Exquisite Corpse Company's month long festival of new work opened August 2nd and runs through August 26th.  The two plays currently running in rep (pictured here) include Phillip Christian Smith's The Chechens and Blake Bishton's Buffalo Buffalo.  The two plays run through August 12th.  Next to open include Alexis Roblan's Liliya and Alisa Zhulina's Kill Joy.

Now in rehearsals, Steppenwolf Theatre Company is thrilled to present Guards at the Taj, a stunning tale about the search for beauty in desperate circumstances, written by acclaimed playwright Rajiv Joseph (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo). As previously announced, ensemble member Amy Morton directs this Chicago premiere, featuring the original cast members, Omar Metwally (Humayun) and Arian Moayed (Babur), who were last seen on Steppenwolf's stage together in Homebody/Kabul. Morton directed the critically acclaimed Off-Broadway world premiere, which won the 2016 Obie Award for Best New American Play.

American Stage announces their 2018-2019 Mainstage Series, marking Producing Artistic Director Stephanie Gularte's third season selected themed as "LIFE. OUT LOUD."

American Blues Theater opens its 2017-2018 Season with the Chicago Premiere of Beauty's Daughter by Dael Orlandersmith, directed by Ron OJ Parson, and Artistic Affiliate Wandachristine. Beauty's Daughter runs July 7 - August 5, 2017 at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago.

After a winter hiatus American Repertory Theater of WNY resumes the 2015-16 season with a presentation of the 1966 pioneering work by John Guare, The House of Blue Leaves. Under the directorial eye of ART/WNY alumni, Drew McCabe (The Crucible and Dead English), the work centers on one man's desire to rise above his mundane life by becoming a successful songwriter only to see this dream remain elusive because of the eccentric circumstances surrounding the life he leads. Robert Ernie Insana will return to the ART/WNY stage as the befuddled 'Artie Shaughnessy' in this compelling American play. The House of Blue Leaves opens on March 10th and runs until April 2nd in ART/WNY's new location, 330 Amherst Street, Buffalo (next to the Sportsman Tavern). All show-times are 8 pm, Thursday through Saturday.

Milwaukee Repertory Theater's 2015/16 Quadracci Powerhouse season continues with THE MOUSETRAP, a celebration of the 125th Anniversary of Agatha Christie's birth. Rep Favorite J.R. Sullivan directs a cast of stage veterans to realize Christie's masterfully woven plot, luring in audiences before delivering an unforgettable final twist! The Chicago Public Library Foundation and the Chicago Public Library presented the 16th annual Carl Sandburg Literary Award to legendary composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim. Universally heralded for his immense contributions to musical theater in a career spanning more than 50 years, Sondheim was at the Carl Sandburg Literary Awards Dinner tonight, October 21, 2015 at The Forum (725 W. Roosevelt Road) on the campus of the University of Illinois at Chicago. The event was attended by almost 700 and raised more than $1.5 million to support the initiatives of the Chicago Public Library. Scroll down for photos!

Capital Stage continues its 10th Anniversary season with the 2014 Glickman Award Winner for Best New Play, IDEATION by San Francisco playwright Aaron Loeb. A psychological suspense thriller in which a group of corporate consultants work together on a mysterious and ethically ambiguous project, IDEATION received its world premiere at San Francisco Playhouse in 2013. CapStage's production will be the second staging of this celebrated new play. CapStage and Loeb previously collaborated in 2008 on the Sacramento premiere of his play, FIRST PERSON SHOOTER. IDEATION will run from January 21 through February 22 with a Press Opening on Saturday January 24, 2015. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast onstage below!
