Theatre NOVA, Ann Arbor’s resident nonprofit professional theatre, continues in-person productions with “Relativity” by Mark St. Germain, which runs May 27 through June 19, 2022.

The story of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" has gone through many incarnations over the years: An American fairytale, a Broadway extravaganza, one of the first technicolor MGM movie musicals, and the 1989 West End holiday musical. Now, complete with dancing Munchkins and flying monkeys, Sierra Rep is delighted to present The Wizard of Oz this summer at the Historic Fallon House Theatre in Columbia State Park. The book is by John Kane, music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by E.Y. Harburg. It has additional background music by Herbert Stothart. It is based on the novel "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum and the 1939 film version written by Noel Langley, Florence Ryerson and Edgar Allan Woolf. This production will be co-directed by Scott Viets and Jerry Lee, who previously teamed up for Holiday Jukebox and The Robber Bridegroom. The production sponsor is DSN Outdoor.

ENGAGING SHAW begins in England in 1897 in a comfortable cottage in Stratford, England, where Shaw hopes to complete his new play. As he engages in conversation with his friends, the happily married cottage owners, Beatrice and Sidney Webb, we learn Shaw is a notorious flirt and heartbreaker who enjoys romancing women, attracting them to him "like a moth to the flame." But it is soon apparent he is not particularly interested in sex, a fact reflected in his real life where he remained a virgin until his 29th birthday. It's the thrill of the hunt that is the main attraction for Shaw, thoroughly enjoying the effect he has on women as he pursues them, not in the keeping of them. In present-day parlance, he'd be considered a sexist cad. Beatrice sees an opportunity to deflect Shaw's interest in her (and hers in him) by inviting their wealthy benefactor Charlotte to visit, knowing when she meets Shaw, the financially challenged but famous Irish playwright and political activist, that sparks will fly.

The Waterville Opera House (WOH) is proud to present an adventurous musical tale Annie the Musical December 1st through 10th in downtown Waterville. Featuring a local cast of more than 35 performers, the throwback to the bright Broadway Musical production will certainly take the whole family on a rich adventure this holiday season. Gingold Theatrical Group continued its 12th Season of PROJECT SHAW when it presented its 128th concert presentation, Votes for Women, a rare staging of the 1907 play by Elizabeth Robins, for one night only, on Monday, November 20th, at 7pm, at Symphony Space's Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre (2537 Broadway at 95th Street). It's time for a return to Oz as Moonlight Stage Productions' 33rd summer season, the first planned by new Artistic Director Steven Glaudini, continues with the family classic THE WIZARD OF OZ, with performances from July 24 to August 10. THE WIZARD OF OZ is presented by Moonlight for the first time as an adult production, with adult actors in the leading roles of the Royal Shakespeare Company version. Volunteers of America (VOA), one of the nation's oldest and most effective human services organizations in the nation, will launch their 109th Annual Sidewalk Santa ® Campaign. Money collected will go to their Holiday Food Voucher program. The traditional launch for the program will be the annual Sidewalk Santa® parade on Friday, November 25, the morning after Thanksgiving. More than 50 fully-suited Sidewalk Santas® will march on Fifth Avenue, spreading holiday cheer and reminding us to remember our neighbors in need during the holiday season. In preparation, Sidewalk Santa® School took place at VOA Headquarters on the Upper West Side yesterday, November 17. Westport Country Playhouse (Joanne Woodward and Anne Keefe, artistic directors, Jodi Schoenbrun Carter, managing director) will stage John Steinbeck's classic drama, 'Of Mice and Men,' directed by Mark Lamos. Peformances began October 7th and will run through November 1. Steinbeck won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1962 and the Pulitzer Prize for his 1939 novel 'The Grapes of Wrath.' The production will honor the late Paul Newman, who was married to Westport's Artistic Director Joanne Woodward and who participated in many Westport Playhouse productions.
