Lone Star and Pvt. Wars

The scars carried home by combat veterans are often visible, but just as often they are invisible, at least to anyone who hasn't had similar experiences. In Pvt. Wars, James McClure examined Vietnam veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome years before it was given that name.

 In April of 2017 at Wild Project in the East Village, a revival of James McLure's Lone Star, by NINE Theatricals, took the stage in New York City for only the second time since it's Broadway debut in 1979. The production was met with tremendous feedback and glowing reviews from New York City critics and audiences who had not before seen this lesser known work. With a demand for more shows, producers moved Lone Star, in May, to The Triad Theatre for a limited Off Broadway contract run.

Ed Shea, Artistic Director, announced that 2nd Story Theatre will return to the historic Bristol Statehouse, 240 High Street, Bristol, RI for a production of Nuts by Tom Topor. Nuts will be directed by Mark Peckham.

According to published reports, playwright James McLure passed away on February 17 at the age of 59. McLure lost a battle to cancer. He is survived by his sister Jenny.
