The benefit of a stage production means it will always be malleable to change, always willing to look at how a story written in the past can still be relevant in the present, and remain timeless for the future. What follows in this new production of The Wiz is a recontextualization of our favorite characters. While the structure of the story is faithful to the Baum novel and MGM film, it comes with small, but noticeable details that reframe this familiar story not just as a fantastical quest, but as a bildungsroman and revenge tale at the same time.

It will be a 'Page to Stage' day when Queens Theatre hosts a Queens Children's Book Author Meet and Greet along with two performances of the famed musical, Anne of Green Gables, on Sunday, April 28th.

On January 16th 2015 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the unparalleled precision of the Mariinsky Ballet's corps in "Swan Lake" was rightfully rewarded with the evening's most thunderous applause. From tonight, November 1 through 9, 2013, Museum of the Moving Image will present Anja Breien: Games of Love and Loneliness, the first U.S. retrospective of Breien's work, featuring six features and a program of shorts, with the director in person for select screenings and for an opening reception.

Barrie's What Every Woman Knows at the Finborough Theatre in July this year, director Louise Hill returns to the Finborough Theatre with another rediscovery of a classic comedy by J.M. Barrie to celebrate the 150th anniversary of his birth - his magical 1901 play Quality Street, opening on 30 November 2010 (Press Night: Thursday, 2 December 2010 at 7.30pm) as part of the Finborough Theatre's 30th anniversary year.
