Apollo Dukakis, a resident artist with the company, directs the piece, using the Benjamin F. Glazer translation, with a cast of sixteen portraying multiple roles. Admission for the reading is free. Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces the full company for Charles Randolph-Wright's world premiere drama Love in Afghanistan. Randolph-Wright, a Resident Playwright through Arena Stage's American Voices New Play Institute and director of Motown the Musical currently on Broadway, joins forces with director Lucie Tiberghien (MCC Theater's Don't Go Gentle) to bring to life the tale of two fantastically different people discovering love in the most unlikely of places: war-torn Afghanistan. One, an emerging hip-hop artist, the other, a high-level Afghan interpreter, both fight to navigate the pitfalls of romance, religious differences and political unrest. Love in Afghanistan runs tonight, October 11-November 17, 2013 in the Arlene and Robert Kogod Cradle.

Italy's Dario D'Ambrosi is a radical innovator of the theater and founder of the movement called Teatro Patologico (Pathological Theater). Having staged revolutionary interpretations of 'Richard III' in 1996 and 'Romeo and Juliet' in 2009, he is now taking on 'Hamlet' with a new full-length work, 'Hamlet Hallucinations.' La MaMa E.T.C., D'Ambrosi's theatrical home in the USA, will present the work's world premiere October 17 to November 3.

The Guthrie Theater today announced the cast and creative team for David Goldstein's moving drama Skiing on Broken Glass. The play premiered in the 2010 Minnesota Fringe Festival to sold-out crowds and was selected for the Fringe Encore series. Guthrie Artistic Director Joe Dowling helms a new, expanded version of the play featuring additional characters and accompanying storylines. Skiing on Broken Glass begins performances in the Dowling Studio on October 29.

London based Azerbaijani Theatre Company, Aloff Theatre, will close its production at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival today, August 10, where it performed for the very first time. After a successful London run, Aloff Theatre joined the Edinburgh Fringe with the British premiere of Elchin Afandiyev's play My Favourite Madman, which runs through 10 August at the Gryphon Venues.

Trinity Repertory Company previously announced that three local Rhode Island residents would be receiving Pell Awards this year in addition to Kate Burton, the recipient of the 2013 Pell Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts.
