The Snowman has been a widely recognised and fondly regarded book and film since its conception by Raymond Briggs in the late 1970's. It has had an annual Christmas TV slot since 1982 and the 26-minute film was even nominated for an Academy Award - not bad considering it derived from a children's picture book with no words! In 1986, the story was made into a stage show with Birmingham Rep producing the most notable version in 1993. It is here that I revisited the show thirty years after its stage debut.

Leapin' lizards! With more than 400 performances under her belt, the new U.S. National Tour of ANNIE will play the National Theatre for one week only, March 15 - 20, 2016. Directed by original lyricist and director Martin Charnin for the 19th time, this production of ANNIE is a brand new physical incarnation of the iconic 1977 Tony Award-winning original.

This past Thursday, Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH) opened its doors to the community for an intimate gathering in their studios at the Everett Center of the Performing Arts on 152nd Street (between Amsterdam and St. Nicholas Avenues) to ring in the new year. COSTA MESA, CA – Segerstrom Center for the Arts welcomes the return of Les Ballets de Monte- Carlo February 11 – 13, 2016 with another American premiere: Jean-Christophe Maillot's Choré, featuring music by Danny Elfman and John Cage. Harold Pinter was born in Hackney, in London's East End, in October of 1930. An only child, he was born to Jewish parents of very moderate means; his father, a tailor, and his mother, a homemaker, were first-generation descendants of Eastern European immigrants. Like many of his contemporaries, Pinter's childhood was shaped by the onslaught of World War II; at the age of nine, he was evacuated from London through Operation Pied Piper and resettled in a town in Cornwall. The sense of isolation he felt in Cornwall would come to influence his work, as would the changed London to which he returned during the Blitz, where he was witness to, as his 2008 Guardianobituary put it, 'the dramatic nature of wartime life - the palpable fear, the sexual desperation, the genuine sense that everything could end tomorrow.'
