Acclaimed director, actor, and teacher Thomas G. Waites is currently directing THE TAMING OF THE SHREW, being produced by the Baruch College of Performing Arts and the Thomas G. Waites Acting Studio. As Trinity Rep concludes its landmark 50th anniversary season with Sam Shepard's A Lie of the Mind, the company announces two community initiatives inspired by the themes and events of the play. In tandem with SOAR (Sisters Overcoming Abusive Relationships), Trinity Rep has spearheaded a campaign to raise awareness about the partner organization and its services, while a used cell phone drive in Trinity Rep's lobby raises funds for Sojourner House, which provides comprehensive services to victims of abuse. Patrons are encouraged to bring used cell phones of any condition to donate when they attend the theater. The theater lobby will also be open for donations during regular business hours. Mary Testa, a two-time Tony Award nominee and celebrated veteran of Broadway, Off-Broadway, and film, is coming to Houston this summer for two performances only.
