Ten playwrights have won the New York Community Trust Helen Merrill Playwright Awards, honoring established and emerging writers for the theater. The winners are currently producing work on topics ranging from basement dwelling families in the middle of the 21st century to the 19th century all-black community that faced destruction in order to create Central Park.

  "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," is considered to be one of  America's greatest books by today's scholars, and James Rana's world premiere adaptation beautifully captures the humor and heartache in this tale of a boy running away from an abusive father and a slave running away for fear of being sold to a plantation further south.

The Boston Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Andris Nelsons have entered into a new partnership to create Classical Live, a unique initiative that offers a new paradigm for the distribution of live recordings of classical music available only on Google Play Music. Classical Live will offer participating orchestras—the BSO, Cleveland Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, and Amsterdam's Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra—an opportunity to release up to four live concert recordings each season for download exclusively on Google Play Music with the first recordings to be made available at music.google.com or classical-live.com beginning on June 15.

The Trap traces key elements in Franz Kafka's life, and Rózewicz's masterstroke is to weave the much darker future-the rise of Nazism, the death of Kafka's sisters' in the Holocaust, and the long Soviet occupation-with the troubled 'present' of Kafka's time.

His gift for creating edge-of-your-seat pacing, engrossing and flawed characters, and witty dialogue shows through in Never the Sinner, Logan's 1985 work and first play.

The Public Theater announced today that The Public Theater's Annual Gala will take place on Tuesday, June 9 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. The evening will include a special performance of the free Shakespeare in the Park production of THE TEMPEST, featuring a cast that includes Sam Waterston and Jesse Tyler Ferguson and directed by Michael Greif, as well as an alfresco dinner in Central Park followed by a dessert reception. Tommy Tune, Colin Donnell, Danny Gardner, Jeff Hiller, Erin Mackey, Patti Murin, Richard Poe, Jennifer Laura Thompson and Kirsten Wyatt will star in George and Ira Gershwin's Lady, Be Good, the opening production of New York City Center's 2015 Encores! season, running for seven performances, February 4 - 8, 2015. Lady, BeGood will be directed by Mark Brokaw and choreographed by Randy Skinner. Founding Encores! Music Director Rob Fisher will return as Guest Music Director, and has supervised the restoration of the Gershwins' original score.

On Saturday, September 27, at 8 p.m., the Boston Symphony Orchestra will shine a welcoming spotlight on Andris Nelsons as he makes his highly anticipated debut as BSO Music Director leading a gala program filled with works and guest artists that have inspired his musical life. When Mr. Nelsons takes on the title of BSO Music Director on September 27, at age 35, he will be the youngest conductor to hold that title with the orchestra in over 100 years. The fifteenth music director since the Boston Symphony Orchestra's founding in 1881, Mr. Nelsons is also the first Latvian-born conductor to assume the post.
