Japan Society's fourth annual JAPAN CUTS Festival of Contemporary Japanese Cinema screens 24 feature films--the most in the festival's history and the largest showcase of contemporary Japanese cinema globally this year. In addition to 8 features co-presented with the New York Asian Film Festival, JAPAN CUTS 2010 includes an array of Japan's best films from 2010 and 2009, and a special selection of the decade's best films never before released in the U.S. Made by both established and emerging directors and starring today's hottest actors and festival winners, most films in JAPAN CUTS 2010 are international, U.S., or New York premieres, and none are commercially available on DVD in the U.S.

NY Philharmonic and Shanghai Symphony Orchestra to Open 2010 Concerts in the Parks

The 2010 New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks, Presented by Didi and Oscar Schafer, will open with a free joint concert featuring the New York Philharmonic, conducted by Andrey Boreyko, and the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, conducted by its music director, Long Yu, with pianist Lang Lang as one of the soloists, Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at 8:00 p.m., on the Great Lawn in Central Park.

The Phoenix Theatre of Indianapolis announces four performances of Dos Fallopia starring Lisa Koch and Peggy Platt. Opening October 1, 2009, this show can be seen in the Frank & Katrina Basile Theatre at the Phoenix through October 4, 2009. The show is titled Dos Fallopia: Deja Poo (The undeniably eerie feeling that you?ve seen this crap before?) and features the two talented women who have been writing and performing together since 1990.

George and Ira Gershwin, the song-writing brothers penned such standards as ?They Can?t Take That Away from Me,? ?Embraceable You,? and ?I Got Rhythm.? Unfortunately, the books behind the musicals for which they were writing could not hold a candle to the music. That is, until Ken Ludwig stepped in more than 50 years after George Gershwin died to rework the story behind the Gershwin?s Girl Crazy (1930). The result was the 1992 Tony Award winning?including Best Musical?Broadway smash hit musical Crazy for You, which will be on the Theatre at the Center stage, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster, Indiana, May 7 through June 14. Press opening will be May 14 at 8 p.m.
