The CSO is inviting musicians from the community to once again join professional musicians in their event, Play Along with the CSO. The event will take place on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 11, 2014 from 1:00-3:30pm at the Chattanooga Market. Musicians are invited to perform in one of three different performances, which will take place at 1:00pm, 2:00pm, and 3:00pm. Play Along registration costs $35 and includes a free t-shirt, music, and the opportunity to have coaching in advance with a CSO musician. Music to be presented includes: Grieg's Suite No. 1 from Peer Gynt, Movement 4 - "In the Hall of the Mountain King"; Elgar's Variation IX (Nimrod) from Enigma Variations; Copland's "Hoe-Down" from Rodeo; and John Williams' "Imperial March" from Star Wars. All performances are free for Chattanooga Market attendees.

Rack have announced a special WICKED LIT installation of Edgar Allan Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart which will be staged exclusively at LA Mart in conjunction with ScareLA,during the first annual Los Angeles Halloween Convention (beginning today August 10, and running through tomorrow, August 11). Virginia Repertory Theatre celebrates the 60th anniversary of the founding of Barksdale Theatre at Hanover Tavern with a production of Steel Magnolias featuring an all-star cast. The show opens tonight, July 12, 2013 at Hanover Tavern, 13181 Hanover Courthouse Road, and runs through August 25, coinciding with the official anniversary on August 1. Sixty years ago in 1953, six actors, two children, a dog and two pigs moved into a historic ruin called Hanover Tavern. The transplanted New Yorkers founded Central Virginia's first professional theatre and named the company in memory of a deceased college friend, Barbara Barksdale.
