New Duncan Sheik/Kyle Jarrow Work & More Set for NAMT's 27th Annual Festival of New Musicals

National Alliance for Musical Theatre has announced the line up of new musicals for their 27th ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSICALS, which takes place on Thursday, October 15 and Friday, October 16 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues). Registration for Industry members is free and now open at www.namt.org/festival.

Florian Zeller's THE FATHER to Make West End Transfer

Following successful runs at the Ustinov Studio in Bath and the Tricycle Theatre in London, Theatre Royal Bath Productions and the Tricycle Theatre will transfer Florian Zeller's Moliere award-winning play, THE FATHER, starring Kenneth Cranham and Claire Skinner, to London's Wyndham's Theatre for a limited season, Wednesday 30th September - Saturday 21st November. In the two weeks prior to the transfer, the production will play a very limited run at Cambridge Arts Theatre, 15th - 26th September.

Saratoga Springs, NY -- Opera Saratoga, in partnership with the literary organization Words After War, will present a writing workshop to civilians, veterans and military families on July 11 and July 12, 2015 at The New York State Military Museum in Saratoga Springs, NY. The two-day event will be held in conjunction with the world premiere of The Long Walk, by Composer Jeremy Howard Beck and Librettist Stephanie Fleischmann. The opera is based upon the critically acclaimed memoir of war and homecoming by Brian Castner.

Anne Enright is the inaugural Laureate for Irish Fiction and winner of the 2007 Man Booker Prize forThe Gathering. In her new novel, The Green Road(just published in this country by Norton), four children grow up and move away from their childhood home in the west of Ireland. They go everywhere, have full, interesting and complex lives, and then, in 2005, their elderly mother declares she is going to sell the house. So they all troop back for an Irish family Christmas and try to sleep one last time in their old beds. They bring their inner child home with them, only to meet their outer mother, Rosaleen: a woman who is sometimes wonderful and always difficult.

Full Cast Announced for THE FATHER at Tricycle Theatre

The full cast is announced today for The Father, transferring to the Tricycle Theatre following a hugely successful, critically acclaimed run last year at the Ustinov Studio in Bath. Kenneth Cranham, Rebecca Charles, Colin Tierney and Jade Williams reprise their original roles and are joined by new cast members Claire Skinner and Jim Sturgeon. The production opens on 12 May, with previews from 7 May, and runs until 13 June.

SCHMIDT are among the 2015 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, May 1, at 6:30pm, at the Hudson Theatre (145 West 44th Street). Mr. Goldstein was selected to receive the 2015 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design and Mr. Schmidt will receive the Robert L.B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design.

Notably, 2015 will mark the farewell season of Robert Joffrey's The Nutcracker. Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces the full company for August Wilson's classic drama King Hedley II. Set in the 1980s Hill District of Pittsburgh, the ninth installment of Pulitzer Prize winner Wilson's acclaimed play cycle examining Black America follows a scarred ex-convict who struggles to turn his life around and lock away his past. The drama is directed by Timothy Douglas, who worked with the late playwright on the world premiere of Radio Golf and has directed eight plays out of Wilson's 10-play cycle. King Hedley II runs February 6-March 8, 2015 in the Fichandler Stage.

Vincent Sessa's BODY OF WORDS Begins Tonight at TNC

'Body of Words' by Vincent Sessa is set in a rented bungalow on a deserted stretch of beach on a summer night into morning. Two strangers meet -- a rugged, powerful middle-aged man and a young, athletic man who might be a student. A sexual contract is established between them but suspicion and violence ensue. Yet by morning an inseparable bond has joined the men together and they are changed forever. The play is evocative of the homecoming of Odysseus. The author, Vincent Sessa, is known for profoundly nuanced plays about men and women in personal, often political struggle. Theater for the New City will present the play's premiere run today, January 1 to 25, 2015, directed by John Michael DiResta.
