The Lyric Stage Company of Boston's 2015-16 season closes with an acclaimed new play (partly inspired by the theatricality of Nicholas Nickleby) that uses ingenious stagecraft, the talents of a dozen of our favorite actors, and the limitless possibilities of your imagination to create theatrical magic.

Pioneer Theatre Company presents the American professional premiere of the new musical THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO, written by Frank Wildhorn and Jack Murphy. Performances take place May 6 through May 21, 2016. PTC has just announced the full cast and creative team for the production!

The March and April programming schedule at the Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust has been announced. The diverse season includes programs presented in conjunction with the Museum's new special exhibition, Seeking Justice: The Leo Frank Case Revisited. This one-person play about the 16th President had such a successful run for the Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company last summer, that the company is bringing it back for a full two-week run before taking the show to Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania.

CABARET, the musical masterpiece, returns direct from Broadway!

In celebration of Black History Month, actor/vocalist Richard Johnson will perform the premiere of his one man play, 'Pappy on Da Underground Railroad,' directed by Keith Allen, accompanied by musical director Terry Wallstein. Johnson is best known for his cabaret shows on the music of Nat King Cole and as a stylist of antique gospel music and Negro Spirituals. In the play-which ascends into soaring spiritual music-a 'conductor' the Underground Railroad educates and prepares a group of runaway slaves for their journey northward with him. He is met with the daunting challenge of selling freedom to men and women who don't believe freedom exists for them. Performances will be February 11 to 27 at Gene Frankel Theatre, 24 Bond Street, Manhattan.

Among the 17 recipients of the 2015 Presidential Medal of Freedom are Broadway legends Stephen Sondheim and Barbra Streisand, as well as pop star and ON YOUR FEET! creator Gloria Estefan. President Barack Obama named this year's honoreees last week, and the awards will be presented at the White House today, November 24th.
