The Harris Theater for Music and Dance kicks off the 2011-2012 Hear the Music season with the highly-anticipated Harris Theater debut of Fabio Luisi, recently appointed principal conductor of the Metropolitan Opera. Mr. Luisi will lead the acclaimed Vienna Symphony Orchestra and Grammy-nominated Eroica Trio in a program of classical blockbusters on November 7, 2011 at 7:30 pm.

Ballet For Young Audiences (BYA), a New York based non-profit dance company founded in 1985, will perform at the Nanning International Folk Song Arts Festival in Nanning, China from October 14 to 24, 2011. The company will present an excerpt from Director Edwin Kinter's 'Spring Song', co-choreographed by Harriett Leigh Kinter in Nanning at the invitation of the Artistic Committee of the festival.

PCPA Theaterfest to Present US Premiere of Schwartz's MY FAIRYTALE 8/12-8/19

Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts Theaterfest is pleased to present the American Premiere of My Fairytale, a musical about Hans Christian Andersen. The musical is composed by Stephen Schwartz, the award-winning composer of Godspell, Pippin and Wicked, and will be presented in time for the 2011 centennial celebration of Solvang, CA as a Danish-American community. This exclusive engagement will preview in Santa Maria's Marian Theatre August 12 - 19, 2011, then open under the stars in the Solvang Festival Theater August 26, playing through September 25, 2011.

Now celebrating its 33rd year, the annual Museum Mile Festival (www.museummilefestival.org) takes place rain or shine on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Over 1.5 million people have taken part in this annual celebration since its inception. Festival attendees can walk the Mile between 82nd Street to 105th Street while visiting nine of New York City's finest cultural institutions open free to the public throughout the evening. In addition, several of the participating museums offer outdoor art activities for children.

The 5th Avenue Theatre is thrilled to announce casting for the highly anticipated premiere of Disney's Aladdin, a new stage musical. The show will feature Adam Jacobs and Courtney Reed as Aladdin and Jasmine, James Monroe Iglehart as the Genie, and Seattle mainstay Seán G. Griffin as the Sultan. Jonathan Freeman takes the stage to embody the role he originally voiced for the film, the Royal Vizier Jafar. He is joined by comedic favorite Don Darryl Rivera as Iago. Aladdin restores a trio of characters originally conceived by the film's creators: Omar, Babkak, and Kassim, played by Andrew Keenan-Bolger, Brian Gonzales, and Brandon O'Neill, respectively. Broadway's Casey Nicholaw will direct. With book by Chad Beguelin and hit songs including 'Friend Like Me,' 'Prince Ali,' and the Oscar-winning 'A Whole New World' by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, Aladdin will enchant audiences of all ages.
