The Mountain Playhouse in Jennerstown continues its seventieth anniversary season with a madcap farce, which has become one of the signature pieces of the Playhouse's farce troupe. Lend Me a Tenor by Ken Ludwig was first performed at the Mountain Playhouse in 1991 (two years after its Broadway debut) and then was reprised in 2000.

Set in Buffalo, New York, Over the Tavern takes us back to the Eisenhower era of the 1950's and introduces us to the Pazinski family (Mom, Dad and their four children: Eddie, Annie, Georgie and the hero of the tale, 12-year-old Rudy) who live over the bar they own.

Honus & Me, a play by Steven Dietz adapted from the book by Dan Gutman, tells the story of little league player Joey Stoshack who finds the most valuable baseball card in the world, the T-206 Honus Wagner - while cleaning out an elderly neighbors attic.

The Mountain Playhouse in Jennerstown is kicking off the 2009 anniversary season with an adaptation of another 70th anniversary celebrant, the 1939 classic Gone With the Wind. I'll Never Be Hungry Again is a musical spoof that takes the sweeping drama and classic romance and turns it on its head.

A Broadway revival of Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart's BABES IN ARMS is in the works, according to Variety.
The production will be directed and choreographed by Randy Skinner (recently Tony nominated Choreographer of 'Irving Berlin's White Christmas') and will utilize a new book by Joe DiPietro ('I Love You, You're Perfect...Now Change!', 'The Toxic Avenger' and 'Memphis'). The production will star Rosie O'Donnell.

Parison Jr., presents the world premiere of Mark St. Germain's new play, Freud's Last Session, from June 10 through 28 at BSC Stage 2 theatre (36 Linden Street, Pittsfield). Starring Mark H. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will kick off summer screening series, 'Hollywood's Greatest Year: The Best Picture Nominees of 1939,' on Monday, May 18, with a big-screen presentation of 'Gone with the Wind.' The 10-film 70th anniversary celebration, which will run through August 3, showcases all of the Best Picture nominees from a landmark year that saw the release of an exceptional number of outstanding films. All screenings will be held on Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m. at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater.
