Hot Rize, one of the most respected and influential bands in bluegrass music, is pleased to announce the release of their aptly named new record Hot Rize 40th Anniversary Bash, recorded live at Boulder Theatre, over the course of three sold out shows in January of this year. Hot Rize (Nick Forster on bass, Pete Wernick on banjo, Tim O'Brien on mandolin and fiddle, and Bryan Sutton on guitar) were joined by longtime musical friends Jerry Douglas, Stuart Duncan, and Sam Bush, treating Boulder to three nights of unforgettable music. “We wanted to have a party,” says Forster.  “We wanted to have a full-out bash!” And now, on August 3rd, celebrating the anniversary of the band's 40th year together, fans worldwide are musically invited to the party, as the band selecting 19 of the best of those unforgettable performances for the new record. On Monday, Relixreleased the video for “Colleen Malone,” Wernick commenting that he “ ...learned this touching and lyrical song from the writer himself, Pete Goble, on his bus one day at a festival in the 1980s. The band liked it right away and our version became Song of the Year in 1991. It already seems to have become a standard at bluegrass jam sessions.” Watch here.

In this radical re-imagining at JACK, two multi-disciplinary artists play the combative titular couple and head up the design team. Joined by an ensemble of some of Brooklyn's sharpest comedic voices, Gordon Landenberger (Bruce) and trans actress Theda Hammel (Marie) double as the set and sound designers, respectively, for this hilarious and timely new production. 

The Theatre Group at SBCC will start the season July 11-28, 2018 in the Garvin Theatre with the musical, GREASE.  Book, lyrics and music by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey.

LUMBERYARD Contemporary Performing Arts opens its inaugural summer 2018 season, which will fill venues surrounding the organization's highly anticipated new facility in Catskill, New York, with Scat!,a dance-driven musical from Urban Bush Women set in Hudson, NY's Club Helsinki (June 29-July 1). The season,which runs from June 29 - September 2, represents the fullest realization to date of LUMBERYARD's unique dual promise: to make transformative contributions both to the cultural landscape and economic health of Upstate New York and to the field of contemporary performance in New York City and the U.S. by bringing renowned and emerging artists across the performing arts landscape to Catskill for out-of-town premieres, often incubated through LUMBERYARD's signature technical residencies.

The iconic songbook of legendary American singer-songwriter and "Man in Black" Johnny Cash comes to life in the first production of Stages Repertory Theatre's 2018-2019 Season, Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash. Cash's tale of struggle and success, love and faith, rowdiness and redemption, and home and family are played out in this unique musical chronicling the life of one of the best-selling musicians of all time.

Presented by State Auto Insurance Companies, a Lincoln Theatre Walk of Fame induction ceremony will be held on Saturday, July 28, at 7pm, to memorialize the three visionaries responsible for the historic Lincoln Theatre's rescue, renovation, and 2009 reopening-Michael B. Coleman, Bill Conner, and Larry James.

On Friday, June 22, 2018, American classical guitar duo, Duo Noire (Thomas Flippin and Christopher Mallett), releases Night Triptych, an album of world premiere recordings of newly commissioned works by six highly accomplished and diverse women composers from around the world, on New Focus Recordings. Produced with GRAMMY-winning guitarist William Coulter, the album features Clarice Assad'sHocus Pocus, Courtney Bryan's Soli Deo Gloria, Golfam Khayam's Night Triptych, Mary Kouyoumdjian's Byblos, Gity Razaz's Four Haikus, and Gabriella Smith's Loop the Fractal Hold of Rain, all composed for Duo Noire. The album is the culmination of a project Duo Noire, the first two African-American guitar graduates of the Yale School of Music, launched in 2015 to make classical music more gender inclusive, and was supported with a grant from the Diller-Quaile School of Music.

The Old Globe today announced its next cast and creative team-including numerous Globe favorites and new faces-as the 2018 Summer Shakespeare Festival once again presents the finest of the Bard's work outdoors under the stars in the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. Summer will officially arrive with The Tempest, directed by Joe Dowling (formerly the Artistic Director for Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis and Abbey Theatre in Ireland), with star of stage and screen Kate Burton as Prospera, running June 17 - July 22, 2018. Tickets start at $30.00, on sale to the general public now. Previews run June 17 - 22. Opening night is Saturday, June 23 at 8:00 p.m.

For the final production of its 40th Anniversary Season, Stages Repertory Theatre presents the world premiere of Mickey Fisher's Replica, running May 23 - June 10, 2018. Replica is the fourth world premiere Stages has produced this season (in addition to Balls, A Midnight Clear: A Musical Tale of Christmas and Purple Eyes). A television writer and producer as well as a playwright, Fisher is best known as the creator of the television series Extant (CBS, starring Halle Berry), Mars (National Geographic) and the upcoming Reverie (NBC), which premieres May 30. 

Shakespeare & Company presents the New England Premiere of Morning After Grace written by Cary Crim, and directed by Regge Life who helmed last season's hit comedy God of Carnage. Morning After Grace is an unconventional new comedy tackling love, loss, and second chances. Performances run from May 24th - July 15th in the Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre.

Southern California audiences will experience some of the most captivating and entertaining dance performances during The Music Center's upcoming dance season, with choreography that expresses deep emotions and movement that showcases the dimensions of both classical and contemporary dance.  Featuring a wide range of popular and groundbreaking dance companies, including The Music Center premiere of Company Wayne McGregor and the return of The Royal Ballet to The Music Center's stages after a 20-year absence, along with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, L.A.'s own Diavolo/Architecture in Motion and George Balanchine's The Nutcracker by Miami City Ballet, the upcoming Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center (Dance at The Music Center) season is the most fearless and dynamic to date.  Center Dance Arts is the founding supporter of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center.

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, celebrates the opening of two NNPN Rolling World Premiere (RWP) productions: Red Bike by Caridad Svich and The Madres by Stephanie Alison Walker.

Refusing to end their 2017/2018 season, Delaware Theatre Company reprises their hit production Maurice Hines is Tappin' Thru Life. Happy to be performing for Wilmington audiences again, tap dancing legend Maurice Hines will wow audiences for one weekend only, Friday, June 1 to Sunday, June 3, 2018.

I remember reading Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson in fifth grade. It was one of my favorite Newbery Award winning books because of its themes of friendship and acceptance and its very real exploration of loss and grief. The book was published in 1977 and won the Newbery Award in 1978. Over the years the book has been plagued by censorship for a number of reasons-promoting secular humanism, questioning Christianity, using borderline offensive language, and portraying the death of a child. In the story, two children, Jesse and Leslie, become friends after Jesse loses a race to Leslie. Leslie loves to read, and Jesse loves to draw. Together they create an imaginary kingdom called Terabithia where they can be themselves and escape from the bullies at school and the tediousness of chores.

The Colburn School continues its 2017-2018 season with diverse performances that bring together today's most renowned artists with extraordinary Colburn School faculty and students in programs on campus and throughout the community.

2017 Regional Theatre Tony Award Recipient Dallas Theater Center (DTC) announced that Christopher Llewyn Ramirez will be joining the Diane and Hal Brierley Resident Acting Company at the beginning of the 2018-2019 season. 

As the South Florida theater community prepares for the 42nd  annual Carbonell Awards, the recipients of the prestigious George Abbott Award, Charlie Cinnamon Award, Howard Kleinberg Award  and Ruth Foreman Award, have been announced. These special award-winners will be recognized on stage during the evening's ceremony as their contributions are celebrated.
