Hometown musical theatre duo Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk are giving local audiences an exclusive treat - a preview of their musical The Mad Ones, about to debut Off-Broadway in New York.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre presents Watch on the Rhine, Lillian Hellman's 1940s political thriller about loyalty, family, and sacrifice. The play, directed by Berkeley Rep's associate director Lisa Peterson, begins previews on Thursday, November 30, 2017 and runs through Sunday, January 14, 2018. Five theatre directors are slated for the fifth Sundance Institute | LUMA Foundation Theatre Directors Retreat, which convenes in Arles, France, August 25 through September 7. The Retreat is one of 24 residencies and Labs the Institute hosts annually across the world, and is an integral part of the Theatre Program's ongoing engagement with global theatremakers.

Playwright Cordelia Lynn's is well aware of the intense, yet important journey examined in LELA & CO. "I knew that the play could be horrifying and shocking and upsetting - and all those things you can get out of visual violence, without actually showing it," says Lynn. "I want the audience to leave and think there are things happening that I don't see -- maybe because I don't want to see".
