In 1985, three former teen idols-all from the same Philadelphia neighborhood-teamed for a concert titled The Golden Boys, which not only satisfied fans from their teen era by performing their hits, but illustrated that good singing and stage presence never go out of style.

The New York Times has revealed that the York Theater's production of ENTER LAUGHING, based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Carl Rainer about a young actor managing his life and women, that ran off-Broadway last season will head to the Great White Way in the 2010 - 2011 season. No theater has been booked.

When the York Theatre first presented its mainstage mounting of Enter Laughing back in September I wrote that, while far too early to tell, it might well wind up being the funniest, most entertaining production of a musical we'll see this season. Four months later, I must admit that it has indeed been topped... by itself. After taking a hiatus while the space was committed for another show, director Stuart Ross' slam-bang mounting returns to the York a little funnier, a little snazzier and featuring the best male leading performance in a musical the season has seen thus far.

What's that? You've seen Spring Awakening 87 times and you were wondering if there were any other musicals about sex-crazed teenagers who rebel against their parents and express their innermost thoughts when time stands still and songs act as internal monologues? Well it just so happens the show for you played on Broadway, albeit briefly, over thirty years ago and is now receiving an absolutely hilarious revival at the York.

THE CHIEFTAINS are, without question, the world's most popular traditional Irish band. And Toronto surely has the 'Luck of the Irish' this year, as the Chieftains will be at Roy Thomson Hall on Tuesday, March 17 at 8 pm to help us all celebrate St. Patrick's Day. The occasion also marks the last stop and only Canadian date on the band's 21-city 2009 North American tour. Members Paddy Moloney, Matt Maloy and Kevin Conneff are joined on tour by guitarist Jeff White and fiddler Deanie Richardson; and as usual with The Chieftains' shows, there will be pipers, dancers, stories, jokes and special surprise guests.
