The Howard County Arts Council (HCAC) is pleased to announce that Padraic M. Kennedy will serve as Honorary Chair of the 20th Annual Celebration of the Arts in Howard County. The Celebration gala will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. at the Peter and Elizabeth Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center at Howard Community College. Mr. Kennedy will make opening remarks in the Smith Theatre during the 90-minute program, which will feature a special 20th anniversary edition of the Rising Star Competition.

The 27th annual Donald M. Ephraim Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival will have a special pre-Festival kick-off event on Tuesday, January 10 - A Tribute to Gene Wilder, which will include a dessert reception by Starz Bakery, a live Klezmer performance and a screening of the 1979 hit comedy The Frisco Kid, starring Gene Wilder and Harrison Ford. This special tribute will be held at 6 pm at the Mandel JCC, 5221 Hood Road in Palm Beach Gardens.

Due to popular pre-sale demand, Aurora Theatre Company announces that it will add an additional week of performances for THE REAL THING, Tom Stoppard's (The Coast of Utopia, Arcadia, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead) timeless comedy about an all-too-witty playwright who succumbs to the emotional ravages he puts his characters through. Timothy Near ("Master Harold"…and the boys) returns to Aurora to helm this Tony Award-winner for Best Play (1984) and Best Revival of a Play (2000), featuring Elijah Alexander, Liz Sklar, Carrie Paff (This Is How It Goes, A Delicate Balance, Collapse),Tommy Gorrebeeck (The Monster-Builder, The Eccentricities of a Nightingale), Seann Gallagher, and Emily Radosevich. Walnut Street Theatre's 2016-2017 Independence Studio on 3 season continues with one of Neil Simon's funniest plays, Last of the Red Hot Lovers. Philadelphia audiences will be the first to see this production before it becomes the seventh national tour of a Walnut Street Theatre production. Directed by Adam Immerwahr, Last of the Red Hot Lovers begins previews in Philadelphia on January 10th, opens January 12th and continues through February 5th. This production is part of a double feature of Simon's work at the Walnut, as Laughter on the 23rd Floor will begin performances the on the Mainstage on January 17th.

Palm Beach Gardens will add live theatre to its ever-growing cultural landscape when the PGA Arts Center opens its doors in late January. Veteran producers Philip Roger Roy and Dana Matthow have taken a multi-year lease on the PGA Cinemas, located at 4076 PGA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens, and are in the process of converting two of the building's six auditoria to accommodate live productions. The two theatres will seat 260 and 280 patrons respectively. They plan to adapt a third space - which will seat approximately 160, and be available for rentals - within the next year.

To celebrate the publication of the play Black Like Us, BrownBox Theatre joins forces with Sound Theatre Company to present an 'encore' staged reading of the Gregory Award Winning Play at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute. Black Like Us is a funny, poignant, and deeply relevant story about the bonds of family, the struggles of identity, and the far-reaching effects of one woman's decision. The play is set in Seattle's Central District neighborhood, not far from the location of the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute, and spans decades of change that have impacted that community.
