Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full cast and creative team for Paradise Square: An American Musical. The world premiere is helmed by acclaimed director Moises Kaufman, with choreography by the legendary Bill T. Jones and a book by Marcus Gardley, Craig Lucas, and Larry Kirwan. Music by Jason Howland and Larry Kirwan, with lyrics by Nathan Tysen, and based on the songs of Stephen Foster. Paradise Square is produced by special arrangement with Garth H. Drabinsky in association with Peter LeDonne and Teatro Proscenium Limited Partnership.

Celebration, under the artistic direction of Michael Michael A. Shepperd in Association with Beard/Collins/Shores Productions present a special return engagement of Del Shores first new play since his critically acclaimed Yellow, SIX CHARACTERS IN SEARCH OF A PLAY, written and performed by Del Shores and directed by Emerson Collins.  SIX CHARACTERS IN SEARCH OF A PLAYwill perform Thursday, September 27 through Sunday, September 30 at Celebration Theatre @ the Lex Theatre, 6760 Lexington Ave. in Los Angeles. 

The Center for Ballet and the Arts at New York University (CBA), the first international institute devoted to the creation and academic study of ballet, today announced the 27 artists and scholars who will serve as CBA Fellows in the 2018-19 academic year. The group - which represents The Center's largest and most far-reaching cohort yet - features distinguished individuals in a range of disciplines, including scholar Cecile Feza Bushidi, lighting designer Brandon Stirling Baker, choreographer Chase Brock, choreographer, filmmaker, and dancer Pontus Lidberg, and scholar Janice Ross, among others.

Most people know Del Shores as the creator/writer/director of the play and film SORDID LIVES, which morphed into the TV series Sordid Lives: The Series. Del also has utilized his producing and writing talents on Showtime's Queer As Folk and ABC's Dharma & Greg, among others. Del has been touring his various stand-up acts since 2009. Del's latest theatrical opus SIX CHARACTERS IN SEARCH OF A PLAY finds the man himself onstage in his west coast premiere, beginning at the Celebration at the Lex on February 25, 2018.

Shepperd in Association with Beard/Collins/Shores Productions, present a very special event, the West Coast premiere of Del Shores first new play since his critically acclaimed Yellow, SIX CHARACTERS IN SEARCH OF A PLAY, written and performed by Del Shores and directed by Emerson Collins.  SIX CHARACTERS IN SEARCH OF A PLAY will preview on Sunday, February 25 at 2pm; will open on Monday, February 26 at 8pm and perform through Sunday, March 25 at Celebration Theatre @ the Lex Theatre, 6760 Lexington Ave. in Los Angeles.

CABARET, the musical masterpiece, returns direct from Broadway!

This year marks the fifth installment of 'NEEDING IT: Solo Performance in Queer Community,' a two-month workshop in which students develop their own pieces while studying the history of queer performance in New York City. This class emerged directly from the very first show Dan Fishback developed at BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange, when he was an Artist in Residence in 2010-11. Fishback's solo piece, 'thirtynothing,' aimed to make sense of his life as a young queer person in the context of his community's history -- a history that was largely unknown to him. Through this work, Fishback began to understand that history is a human right, and that queer communities cannot be healthy unless there are structured ways to pass along stories from generation to generation.

The University of the Arts' Ira Brind School of Theater Arts announces the 2016 lineup for Polyphone, a "festival of the emerging musical" on the UArts campus in Philadelphia.  Running March 20-27, the 2016 the Polyphone festival produces staged concerts of new musicals and re-imagined canonical works offering professional composers, librettists and directors an opportunity to develop their work among the rich creative community of the Brind School at UArts.  The festival will program five musicals, including both classical and new works, with three performances each.
