In every other interpretation of Tom Wingfield that I have ever seen, Tom is always played to show tenderness and solicitude at times for his mother and sister, and a fundamental understanding of their plight, even as he chafes at their dysfunction and lashes out at them. When, at the end, he says he is haunted by his sister even in his flight, this is not just about being unable to spit a bad taste out of his mouth. Yet Matt Lee's Tom gives just that impression.

The Broadhurst Theatre box office opens tomorrow, Friday, January 25 at 10:00 AM for LUCKY GUY, starring two-time Academy Award-winner Tom Hanks, in the final work by three-time Academy Award-nominee Nora Ephron and directed by two-time Tony Award-winner George C. Wolfe. The Broadhurst Theatre is located at 235 West 44th Street. The production will play a strictly limited engagement. Opening night is Monday, April 1. Previews begin Friday, March 1.

Philip Glass' The Fall of the House of Usher, a gothic horror story which blurs the line between the real world and the supernatural, opens Chicago Opera Theater's 2013 Season, titled "Power of Love, Love of Power." This is Andreas Mitisek's inaugural season as General Director of Chicago Opera Theater since assuming the position in June 2012. Glass' haunting 1987 score for Edgar Allan Poe's macabre masterpiece, with lyrics by Arthur Yorinks, provides the perfect backdrop for this nightmarish journey to the edge of madness. The Fall of the House of Usher, taking place at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, 205 E. Randolph Drive, runs for four performances only: Saturday, February 23 at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, February 24 at 3 p.m., Wednesday, February 27 at 7:30 p.m. and Friday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. Single tickets go on sale Monday, January 21.

The U.S. television premiere of the dramatic ENCORE Original Event, 'Hindenburg: The Last Flight,' will debut Monday, March 11th and Tuesday, March 12th at 8pm et/pt on ENCORE. Based on the 1930s disaster that ended an era of airship aviation, the two-part drama will air as part of ENCORE's 'Big Miniseries Showcase,' a weekly programming destination of fan favorites and classic titles.

Peter Jackson's THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY opened in theaters on Friday, December 14 in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D.

Beginning this month, the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) will celebrate the iconic work and enduring legacy of composer Kurt Weill with an unprecedented series of events. Opening on Friday, Oct. 19, and running through Tuesday, March 12, CCM's Kurt Weill Festival will incorporate the renowned theatre composer into a broad range of both public performances and classroom exercises.

Following its celebrated opening at Seattle Repertory Theatre, Pullman Porter Blues travels across the country to sweep D.C. audiences along for a ride in its world-premiere co-production at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater. Inspired by her grandfather's work on the postal trains, playwright Cheryl L. West, whose work at Arena Stage includes Jar the Floor and Play On!, returns with the tale of three Pullman train porters whose journey is underscored by Midwest blues songs, including "Sweet Home Chicago" and "This Train." Directed by Lisa Peterson (Arena's The Rainmaker and The Quality of Life), Pullman Porter Blues runs November 23, 2012 - January 6, 2013 in the Kreeger Theater.

Under the baton of debuting conductor Markus Stenz, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) will perform Beethoven's Symphony No. 3, "Eroica" tonight, October 4 at 8 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore, and Saturday, October 6 at 8 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. German violinist Kolja Blacher will make his BSO debut performing Schumann's Violin Concerto. In addition, the Orchestra will perform Chaos from Rebel's The Elements. She became more active in the legitimate theater, headlining a road company of Hello Dolly! for over a year.
