The Boston Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Andris Nelsons have entered into a new partnership to create Classical Live, a unique initiative that offers a new paradigm for the distribution of live recordings of classical music available only on Google Play Music. Classical Live will offer participating orchestras—the BSO, Cleveland Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, and Amsterdam's Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra—an opportunity to release up to four live concert recordings each season for download exclusively on Google Play Music with the first recordings to be made available at music.google.com or classical-live.com beginning on June 15.

Bay Street Theater has announced that FIVE PRESIDENTS, the new play by Emmy Award-winning writer Rick Cleveland (Six Feet Under, The West Wing, and House of Cards), will extend its run for an additional week due to popular demand. The production will now run from June 23-July 19.

Josefina López, the award-winning playwright and co-screenwriter of Real Women Have Curves and Founding Artistic Director of CASA 0101 Theater in Boyle Heights, CA will receive an Honorary Doctorate Degree in the Arts from her Alma Mater, Columbia College Chicago on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., at which time López will deliver a Commencement Address to the Class of 2015. López graduate with a B.A. degree in Liberal Arts from Columbia College Chicago in 1993.

Opening this weekend at the Apollo Civic Theater, Once Upon a Mattress, directed by Lauren Hugg and musically directed by Paul Cabell, tells the real story of the fairy tale "The Princess and the Pea". Not so long ago in a kingdom not so far away, evil Queen Aggravain has declared no one in the kingdom may be married until her precious Prince Dauntless finds a bride. However, the Queen devises seemingly more difficult tests for each Princess to pass and makes it almost impossible for Dauntless to find his true love, until an unusually bold and unrefined princess, Winnifred the Woebegone, arrives and may turn the classic fairy tale on its head when it appears the Princess must save the Prince.

Following the success of the previous two festivals, the 3rd Annual New York Hot Jazz Festival -- produced by the impresario Michael 'Misha' Katsobashvili, performer Bria Skonberg, and composer/producer Patrick Soluri (of Prohibition Productions and The Salon) -- returns to The Players this year and promises some of the biggest stars of the Hot Jazz and swing scenes in a summit of uptown and downtown talent spanning three generations.
