The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey will close its 2010 Season with the American East Coast and regional premiere of British author Dodie Smith's I Capture The Castle, a stage adaption of Smith's 1948 popular coming-of-age novel. I Capture The Castle provides a perfect holiday outing opportunity for the whole family. It will conclude performance on January 2, 2011.

For theatergoers looking for unique fare this holiday season, Rep Stage has just the ticket. Michael Stebbins, Rep Stage's producing artistic director, will bring to life -- with simply a chair, music stand, and bottle of water -- three holiday short stories by American humorist David Sedaris on December 18, 19 and 20 in the Monteabaro Recital Hall at Howard Community College (HCC). 'Holiday Readings (With Some Surprise Packages)* - * = some adult humor' features Stebbins reading 'Based Upon a True Story,' 'Front Row Center with Thaddeus Bristol' and 'Season's Greetings to Our Friends and Family!!!' In the spirit of Sedaris and the holidays, door prizes will also be handed out to the most 'festively' dressed audience members. Patrons wearing elf slippers, glowing red noses, and sweaters featuring full macramé snow scenes will be rewarded with t-shirts, mugs, holiday cards and more. Performance times are 8 p.m. on December 18; 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on December 19; and 2 p.m. on December 20. Tickets are $10 online and $12 at the door and may be purchased at the Horowitz Center Box Office, online at www.repstage.org, or by calling 443-518-1500. Parental discretion is advised.

The Tony Awards Administration Committee met today for the first time this season to decide the eligibility of 12 Broadway productions for the 2011 American Theatre Wing's Tony Awards®, presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing. The Tony Awards Administration Committee will meet a total of four times throughout the 2010-2011 season to decide the eligibility for the 2011 Tony Awards.

Classic Stage Company (CSC), under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Jessica R. Jenen announced today that acclaimed actresses Marin Ireland (Tony nominee for reasons to be pretty) and Juliet Rylance (Obie winner for The Bridge Project's As You Like It) have joined the cast of the company's highly-anticipated upcoming production of Anton Chekhov's THREE SISTERS. Ireland will play Natasha and Rylance Irina, joining 2010 Academy Award nominee Maggie Gyllenhaal (Masha), Josh Hamilton (Andrey), 2010 Tony Award nominee Jessica Hecht (Olga) and acclaimed film and stage actor Peter Sarsgaard (Vershinin). While the campy antics of Devil Boys From Beyond may suggest an unlikely blend of screwball classics like His Girl Friday with infamous sci-fi fare such as Plan 9 From Outer Space, the movie title that kept popping into my mind was Clash of The Titans.  Not because of the mythical physiques of beefy boys Jeff Riberdy and Jacques Mitchell, but because this honey of a laff-riot matches esteemed associates from the schools of Off-Broadway's two most significant drag theatre artists.

Review - After The Revolution: The Life Of The Party

Sure, in America the guilty have just as much a right to a fair trial as the innocent.  But when someone you believe is guilty doesn't get one, is that a wrong you can be all that enthused about righting?  That's one of the discussion points that might be mulled over by leftist radicals downing shots of vodka after taking in Amy Herzog's After The Revolution.  Unfortunately, this tantalizing moral dilemma is regulated to a throwaway point in a play that teases us with its political content while contenting itself with being a rather formulaic family drama.  It's a good one, for sure; well-written (despite an unsatisfying ending) with absorbing conflicts and director Carolyn Cantor's excellent cast is always engaging, but every so often the play reminds us of an interesting direction the author decided not to take.
