The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced programming for its 2017-2018 theater season in an event on the famed Opera House stage that showcased performances from a range of work being presented and produced this season.

East West Players (EWP) and Japanese American Cultural & Community Center (JACCC) have announced the Los Angeles premiere of the Broadway musical Allegiance, which had its 2012 world premiere in a record-breaking engagement at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego and played on Broadway from 2015-16 at The Shubert Organization's Longacre Theatre.

The Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, today announced its jurors for the 16th edition, comprised of a group of critically acclaimed filmmakers, award-winning actors working across film, television, and stage, accomplished producers, and cultural leaders.

Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) presents a World Premiere from playwright and director Ain Gordon, written and directed in partnership with percussionist and composer Josh Quillen.

Writer/Director/Producer Gordon Bre4ssack is a veteran of the NY Off-Off Broadway scene as a member of The Playhouse of the Ridiculous. He toured Europe three times with that group and was with them in 1971 when they were all arrested for obscenity in Brussels. He came to Los Angeles in 1983 and was soon hired at Hanna-Barbera writing such shows as 'Scooby- Doo' and 'The Smurfs'. He went on to Warner Bros. Animation and won three Emmys for his work on 'Animaniacs' and 'Pinky & the Brain.' His two previous plays in LA, 'Fuggedaboudit' and 'Missing Dick' were audience and critical favorites. by Steve Peterson

Founded in 1972, German label Brain now commands a status and reputation among listeners and collectors all over the world that would have been unimaginable at the time. Today, it is regarded as one of the most important label outlets for German rock music of the 1970s, a genre generally referred to as krautrock, although the term hardly does justice to the range of styles covered by these groups and their records. In any case, it was coined by the English media and only became popular as an afterthought. Brain first used it in May 1974 in an advert in Musikexpress magazine for their 'Kraut Rock' compilation. The label licenced international acts and albums right from the start in order to expand its portfolio.

Soprano Amber Wagner, a 2010 George London Award Winner, and baritone Reginald Smith, Jr., who won his George London Award in 2015, make their New York recital debuts at the final program in the George London Foundation Recital Series, and the final event in the foundation's season, on Sunday, April 2, 2017, at 4:00 pm. Alan Darling is the recital's pianist; a reception with the artists follows the concert.

From March 16 - 26, Houston Ballet Offers Up a Mixed Repertory Program DIRECTOR'S CHOICE: LEGENDS AND PRODIGY, featuring three company, dancer and audience favorites. Hans van Manen's Grosse Fuge showcases Houston Ballet's strong male lineup and proves unequivocally why he is Holland's most famous choreographer. Ji?i Kylian created Stepping Stones during a visit to Australia as a reflection on man's desire to preserve his heritage. Justin Peck joins Houston Ballet's repertoire with Year of the Rabbit, a ballet that showcases the corps de ballet.

Urbano Project will present Libreria Donceles, a socially engaged art project consisting of an itinerant bookstore of more than 10,000 used books in Spanish. While in residence at Urbano, the participatory art installation will be a meeting place for the community, hosting a series of bilingual salon-like gatherings for conversations, performances and workshops designed to encourage cultural understanding, tolerance, and social activism.

Beloved characters Fletcher and the Knobby Boys charmingly remind viewers about childhood lessons that remain relevant no matter one's age: the value of teamwork and lending a hand (or paw) when others face tough dilemmas. In celebration of Rutgers University's 250th anniversary and the Zimmerli Art Museum's 50th year, the new exhibition Fletcher and the Knobby Boys: Illustrations by Harry Devlin spotlights artwork from two early stories by the New Jersey artist, who also was an instrumental figure in developing the university's resources related to children's literature. The 27 watercolor illustrations on view provide a rare opportunity for visitors to examine Devlin's original vision, with details of his technique in vivid color that are not always obvious in the books, which were produced in black and white or minimal, muted tones.
