In a program that continues the 2014-2015 season theme of spirituality in music, Music Director Marin Alsop pays tribute to her mentor Leonard Bernstein. Maestra Alsop will lead the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) in a concert featuring the works of both Bernstein and Beethoven, tonight, November 21 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, November 23 at 3 p.m at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and Saturday, November 22 at 8 p.m. at The Music Center at Strathmore.

Baltimore, Md. (November 5, 2014) — In a program that continues the 2014-2015 season theme of spirituality in music, Music Director Marin Alsop pays tribute to her mentor Leonard Bernstein. Maestra Alsop will lead the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) in a concert featuring the works of both Bernstein and Beethoven, Friday, November 21 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, November 23 at 3 p.m at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and Saturday, November 22 at 8 p.m. at The Music Center at Strathmore. Bernstein's Chichester Psalms and Symphony No. 1, “Jeremiah” are accompanied by Beethoven's Symphony No. 7, the last work Bernstein conducted before his death in 1990. Joining Marin Alsop and the BSO will be members of the Cathedral Choral Society, the BSO's first-ever collaboration with the Washington, D.C.-based choir. Amanda Majeski & Ryan McKinny to Perform at The Morgan, 11/9

Soprano Amanda Majeski is a 2009 George London Award winner who just made her Metropolitan Opera debut in the Met's season-opening presentation of Le nozze di Figaro, and bass-baritone Ryan McKinny is a 2011 George London Award winner who this past summer sang the roles of Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire with the Los Angeles Opera and Billy Bigelow in Carousel at Glimmerglass Opera. Together, they will open the 2014-15 season of the George London Foundation for Singers with a joint recital at Gilder Lehrman Hall at The Morgan Library and Museum on Sunday, November 9, 2014, at 4:30 PM, with pianist Ken Noda. The event is Mr. McKinny's New York recital debut.

Washington National Opera (WNO) today announced the roster of emerging artists and renowned vocal coaches engaged for the 13th season of its Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program. Under the leadership of program director Michael Heaston, the Domingo- Cafritz Young Artist Program continues to increase its number of performances throughout the season and expand its training regimen to include mentorship by its returning Artist in Residence, the acclaimed American soprano Deborah Voigt. New York City Ballet Principal Dancer Daniel Ulbricht directs and performs with a select ensemble of top stars including Tyler Angle, Craig Hall, Robert Fairchild, Russell Janzen, Emily Kikta, Rebecca Krohn, Tiler Peck, Georgina Pazcoguin, and Teresa Reichlen. The program is equally impressive, including Christopher Wheeldon's Liturgy, danced to Arvo Pärt's ”Fratres;” Two Hearts, a collaboration between Benjamin Millepied and composer Nico Muhly; Furiant, created by NYCB Soloist Justin Peck; Sunshine, a solo for Ulbricht by Larry Keigwin; the world premiere of Opus 19. Following the record-breaking attendance of Festival 2013, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival announces the full 2014 Festival free and ticketed event schedule. Jacob's Pillow is a National Historic Landmark, home to America's longest-running dance festival, and a recipient of the National Medal of Arts.
