He knows he'll remember every moment of this journey from Baghdad to Basra. He did, and many years and miles away it became the bedtime story he told his daughter, and the inspiration for Salaam's new album, Train to Basra and Other Stories (release: October 29, 2013).

The Pasadena Playhouse announced yesterday that its 2012 - 2013 "Better Than Ever" season, which concluded with the closing performance of Sleepless in Seattle - The Musical, exceeded sales and attendance goals for the theatre's fiscal year. The Playhouse's season was highlighted by the world premieres of the comedy Under My Skin and Sleepless in Seattle - The Musical; the smash-hit One Night With Janis Joplin, which was developed at The Playhouse, recently announced its Broadway engagement for this fall; and the launch of a long-term partnership with Lythgoe Family Productions for an annual holiday Panto at The Playhouse. The fiscal year closed with new summer programming that included an inaugural Cirque-A-Palooza festival, a one-week run of Letters From Zora starring Vanessa Bell Calloway and a sold out nine show limited engagement of Val Kilmer in Citizen Twain.

Goodspeed Musicals will transport audiences to beautiful Napa Valley with its production of Frank Loesser's The Most Happy Fella. This all-new production of the beloved musical that Goodspeed sent to Broadway in 1991 will run from September 20 - December 1 at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Conn. The Most Happy Fella will be sponsored by Connecticut Light and Power.

The Associated Press reports that actress Valerie Harper has returned to work following the news that she has been diagnosed with incurable brain cancer. She is filming in Vancouver for the TV movie THE TOWN THAT CAME A-COURTIN', which is set to air in January 2014 on Canada's UP cable channel.

Artistic Director Carey Perloff announced today that due to popular demand, A.C.T.'s 'dazzling' (Bay Area News Group) production of Tom Stoppard's masterwork, Arcadia, has extended through Sunday, June 16, 2013. Iago, by the late James McLure with Creative Consultant Beth Henley (Pulitzer Prize-winning, Tony and Academy Award-nominated author of Crimes of the Heart) and directed by Art Manke (The Playhouse's Fallen Angels and the production of Noel Coward's A Song at Twilight) will perform today, April 16 and 17, 2013. Displacement by Shauna Kandilian-Vartanian and directed by Kappy Kilburn will perform May 14 and 15, 2013.
