Grippo Stage Co.'s THE BEN HECHT SHOW Premieres at Piven Theatre Today

Based on Ben Hecht's books A Guide For the Bedevilled and A Child Of the Century, in which Hecht confronts his own identity as an American Jew in the wake of the Nazi Holocaust, THE BEN HECHT SHOW begins today, June 10 and continues through July 17, 2016 at Piven Theatre at Noyes Cultural Center, 927 Noyes St. in Evanston. Tickets are currently available at grippostagecompany.com. The press opening is Tuesday, June 14 at 8 pm.

Tennessee Williams Theatre Company of New Orleans will conclude its Inaugural Season with Tennessee Williams: Weird Tales, a collection of three unique Tennessee Williams one-act plays. The night will feature the rarely produced Steps Must Be Gentle as well as two World Premiere Williams plays: Ivan's Widow and The Strange Play. Opening weekend will coincide with the Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival.

Directed by Artistic Director Lane Savadove, EgoPo Classic Theater continues their season of influential female playwrights with Luce, a woman who led an extraordinary life as a Broadway playwright, war journalist, congresswoman, ambassador, and Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient. The Women previews March 3 and opens Friday, March 4. The show runs three weeks, closing on Sunday March 20. Tickets start at $25. Irish Rep to Stage Seamus Heaney's THE BURIAL AT THEBES

The Irish Repertory Theatre (Charlotte Moore, Artistic Director and Ciaran O'Reilly, Producing Director) presents its first production of 2016, THE BURIAL AT THEBES written by Irish Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney, based on Sophocles' Antigone.  Directed by Charlotte Moore, THE BURIAL AT THEBES will now star two-time Emmy Award-winner and Tony nominee Larry Bryggman (Proof, Picnic, "As the World Turns") as Creon, The King of Thebes (who replaces the previously announced John Cullum), and Rebekah Brockman (seen as Nettie on the acclaimed Cinemax series "The Knick") as Antigone.  THE BURIAL AT THEBES will be performed Thursday, January 14 - Sunday, March 6, 2016.
