Fort Worth Opera revealed today the names of the composers whose works have been selected for participation in the first season of the company's exciting, annual new works program, Frontiers, making its debut May 6 - 11, 2013. My older brother had a band that rehearsed in our basement, so I heard Bacharach, The Beatles, Ray Charles, and Motown coming up through the floorboards from the time I was six years old. By the time I was eleven though, the Beatles were breaking up and singer-songwriters were breaking through, and a lot of that music really resonated for me"

It will feature pieces of Forti's from over the years that have a central element of sound. SOUNDING opens today, September 8, 6 to 9pm (mini performances included) through October 20, 2012. Full Performance Evenings are September 28th and 29th at 8 pm.

Happy Birthday, Chad Kimball! After moving to New York, he was hired for the Broadway musical, The Civil War, joining the show 3 weeks before it closed. He was in the Off-Broadway revival of Godspell (2000) and the Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods (2002) as Milky-White the cow. He appeared in the Broadway musicals Lennon and Good Vibrations in 2005. Kimball originated 'Huey' in the musical Memphis at the La Jolla Playhouse in 2008, starred in the Broadway production, and earned a Tony nomination for his performance.

The LP is a follow-up to 2011's well received Kitty Fur, about which Amazon.com marveled, "…the biggest surprise is not that the wine industry's greatest trailblazer has made a record, but that Kermit Lynch has delivered an album as unique, expressive and flavorful as the artisanal wines he's championed to the world." The Tucson Citizen called it "as outstanding as any fine wine he's ever imported," and No Depression described Lynch's voice on the album as, "a bluesy instrument with the weathered edges of someone more partial to grain than grape, [which] adds new shades to each interpretation."

Universal Music labels Decca/UMC announced today the digital release of 'A Symphony of British Music - Music For The Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games.' While the recording is currently available for download, it will soon be released as a two-disc set and will celebrate the music of both contemporary British artists and legendary performers.
