The critically acclaimed young cellist Nicholas Canellakis will make his Carnegie Hall Stern Auditorium debut on April 19, 2015, at 2pm as soloist with the American Symphony Orchestra under its music director, Leon Botstein.

As part of its 2014-2015 Performing Arts Season, Japan Society presents Yokohama Rosa, the second theater production within the Society-wide series Stories from the War, marking the 70th Anniversary of the end of WWII. This represents the North American premiere of this one-woman play conceived by and featuring legendary actress Michiko Godai, which is performed annually in Yokohama on the anniversary of the end of WWII in Japan. Yokohama Rosa is written by the late Giho Sugiyama (1932-2004) and directed by Ichiro Onishi. This production plays two performances only at Japan Society (333 East 47th Street): Saturday, April 25 at 7:30pm and Sunday, April 26 at 2:30pm.

Northlight Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director BJ Jones and Executive Director Timothy J. Evans, presents The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie, directed by Jonathan Berry. The production will run at Northlight Theatre, 9501 Skokie Blvd in Skokie, from tonight, November 7 - December 14, 2014. The press opening is Friday, November 14, 2014 at 7:30 pm.

Before Victoria Clark returns to Broadway next season as 'Mamita Alvarez' in Gigi, she heads back to school as the artist in residence at Pace University. Clark directs The Light in the Piazza, the show for which she picked up a Tony Award in 2005, running through November 8 at the Loretto Theatre at The Sheen Center. The Light in the Piazza, by Adam Guettel and Craig Lucas, is based on the novella of the same name by Elizabeth Spencer. Taking place in Italy in the late summer of 1953, it is the story of an American woman Margaret Johnson, who travels to Florence with her daughter Clara, who falls in love with a young Florentine man. As details emerge about Clara's past, their trip turns out to be very much a romantic and psychological journey as Margaret must decide what is best for her daughter, her family, and for herself. The winner of six Tony Awards in 2005, The Light in the Piazza has become one of the great classics of the American Musical Theater, with its lush score and cliff-hanger story. Today we are talking to a multi-award-winning stage and screen musical master all about the forthcoming Fathom presentation of his new musical FROM HERE TO ETERNITY premiering in movie theaters nationwide early next month, the sharp and affable Sir Tim Rice. Outlining his impetus for pursuing a musical adaptation of the acclaimed novel upon which the multi-Academy Award-winning film is based, Rice reveals what drew him to the project as well as what viewers can expect from the dense, complex and majestic score created along with composer Stuart Brayson for the enterprise. On Sunday, October 26, 2014, at 4 p.m., a concert titled Bach – A Three Part Invention will open “Castleton in Performance,” the 2014 fall series presented by the Castleton Festival in Virginia. From September 4-14, 2014, Houston Ballet launches its 45th season with the company premiere of John Neumeier's three-act ballet A Midsummer Night's Dream. The ballet is based on Shakespeare's lighthearted play of the same name and follows the hijinks and hilarity that ensues when a well-intentioned plan with a love potion goes awry. Created in 1977, A Midsummer Night's Dream has served as Mr. Neumeier's calling card, being seen as one of his most joyous and popular creations. Houston Ballet is the first American ballet company to perform the famous work and it is the first piece by Mr. Neumeier to enter the Houston Ballet repertoire.
