Triad Stage opens its 2009-2010 Season - 'A Season Together' - with Picnic, William Inge's portrait of life in the American heartland. The greatest risk is love. It's a peaceful time for a quiet Kansas town in the early 1950s and summer is drawing to a close with the excitement of the annual Labor Day picnic. But the sudden arrival of Hal Carter, a handsome young drifter, stirs the emotions of a group of neighbors as he develops an instant attraction with Madge, one of the most beautiful girls in town. As Hal hides deep insecurities with grand shows of bravado, Madge is torn between her heart and her head in this Pulitzer Prize-winning drama where passions turn one small community upside down. Grey Gardens: The Musical previews on Tuesday May 26th, opens on Friday, May 29th and runs through June 21st, 2009. Tickets range from $33.50 to $68.50, with student and under 30 discounts available. The New York Times is reporting that famed Costume Designer Florence Klotz's Tony Award is for sale on eBay, the starting bid for the trophy at $10,000 (with an option to buy it outright for $20,000). But the Times has a huge inaccuracy in the piece, as they describe Ms. Klotz herself as posting the auction, which is fairly impossible as she sadly passed away in 2006.
