Lincoln Center Festival Set for July-August; Full Listings

Nigel Redden, Director of Lincoln Center Festival, today announced the Festival's line-up, which runs from July 5 through August 5, 2012. Single tickets go on sale on April 2. Theater offerings include Mikhail Baryshnikov in Dmitry Krymov's staging of a new play, In Paris, as well as Sydney Theatre Company's acclaimed production of Uncle Vanya directed by Tamas Ascher and adapted by Andrew Upton. The stellar cast includes John Bell, Cate Blanchett, Hayley McElhinney, Richard Roxburgh, and Hugo Weaving.

Pacific Symphony Presents 'Casablanca' With Score Performed Live, 3/15-17

Pacific Symphony Pops sweeps the audience off to a world of romance, wit, intrigue and remarkable music as the orchestra recreates the score-live!-to the classic film, "Casablanca," shown on the big screen. Led by Principal Pops Conductor Richard Kaufman, the Symphony delivers the emotion captured in the triumphant soundtrack created by old Hollywood's best-known composer Max Steiner. Featuring the popular song "As Time Goes By," played by Sam (Dooley Wilson), the 1942 film is one from the Golden Age that has captured America's hearts for decades with the nostalgic love affair between Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman's characters. Set in exotic Morocco during World War II, with memorable characters, quotable dialogue-"We'll always have Paris," "Here's looking at you, kid"-and a beloved score, the film was an instant success, winning three Academy Awards including Best Picture and a nomination for Best Score.

San Diego REPertory Theatre (San Diego REP) announces its 37th season that opens with a significant work of Latino drama and continues with six more provocative and eye-opening new American productions. "Our curiosity about the changing world we live in provokes us to look hard and deep for those plays that take us to places we have never been and look at the world through eyes that are not are own," says Sam Woodhouse, co-founder and artistic director, San Diego REP. The search for the productions to be presented during the 2012-2013 season resulted in a collection of seven theatrical events that are about the quest of Americans to become their best selves, individually and together.
