Raven Theatre Company to produce Richard Kalinoski's universally celebrated Beast on the Moon CHICAGO - The final play of Raven's 2014-15 season will be Richard Kalinoski's Beast on the Moon, a touching and frequently humorous story of two refugees from the Armenian Genocide as they struggle to build a new life together in 1920's and 1930's Milwaukee. Beast on the Moon begins previews tonight, April 21 and opens on April 27, 2015, playing through June 6.

Heartbeat Opera is a new company intent upon re-imagining opera in intimate spaces for a new generation. Employing a minimalism that allows the emotional integrity of the music to shine through, the company's work focuses on the body of the singer and the visceral power of the music. Co-Artistic Directors Louisa Proske and Ethan Heard, who trained together in the Directing program at the Yale School of Drama, are committed to nurturing the actor in every singer they work with. The company creates productions of classics and new pieces that are daring and visceral—productions that manifest the emotional grandeur and theatrical power of opera with minimal means. Heartbeat's one-act festival presentation of György Kurtág's Kafka-Fragments, directed by Heard, and the New York premiere of Jacques Offenbach's Daphnis & Chloé, in a new English translation directed by Proske, marks this young company's debut. Heartbeat Opera's resident music ensemble Cantata Profana, described by The New York Times as “a stylish early music ensemble,” will provide musical accompaniment.

Yes, he feels slighted when Othello promotes Cassio over him but is that enough reason to plot the general's demise? The National Touring Company of WICKED will host "THE WICKED ROCKY HORROR SHOW," a staged concert performance of Richard O'Brien's "The Rocky Horror Show," at The Fonda Theatre Monday, February 23, at 7:30 p.m. The event will feature the company of WICKED, and net proceeds will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. BOARDWALK EMPIRE writes some of the best female characters around, many can agree, but the treatment of said characters on the show reflects quite the opposite insinuation about the writers. While the show has tackled many feminist issues such as women's health, the right to vote, the temperance movement, and the misogynistic mindset of the men at the time, it's also reduced so many of it's female characters to forgo pointless deaths in order to further characterize and develop their male counterparts, or how I like to put it, allow for the men to feel some “man pain” to make us connect further with them emotionally.
