Its 96th consecutive seaon will be like no other, as the Drama Desk Award-winning National Yiddish Theatre - Folksbiene presents two new plays in the fall that demonstrate the broad scope and appeal of its programming. In 'Fyvush Finkel Live!' -- the world premiere of a musical revue starring the legendary Fyvush Finkel -- Folksbiene shows off its talent to produce good, old-fashioned entertainment that delights audiences of any age. In 'New Worlds: A Celebration of I.L. Peretz' -- starring the noted French performance artist Rafael Goldwaser -- Folksbiene nurtures new artists to add modern works to the Yiddish theatre's rich legacy. Both shows are presented at The Baruch Performing Arts Center, 55 Lexigton Avenue (at 25th Street).

Baz Bamigboye reports in the U.K. Daily Mail today that a stage musical adapation of the movie Ghost may hit Manchester sometime next spring in anticipation of a West End transfer in the summer of 2011, likely at the Piccadilly Theatre. Bamigboye writes that high on the list of Manchester venues for the out of town tryout is the Opera House of Manchester, where the show would would play for an extended 10 week-or-so run. So far, producers are reportedly only in discussion-phase. Laura Michelle Kelly is rumored to be in talks to play the female lead made famous by Demi Moore in the film version.

Rubicon Theatre Company continues its 2009-2010 Season with a revival of BETH HENLEY's Pulitzer Prize-winning play CRIMES OF THE HEART. Set in Mississippi in 1974 (five years after Hurricane Camille), this sweet, sexy comedy follows the travails of the three Magrath sisters, who come together at the family home in Hazelhurst when the youngest Babe is charged with shooting her husband 'cause she didn't like his looks.'

Writers' Theatre Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma announce the second extension of Oh Coward!, words and music by Noel Coward, devised by Roderick Cook. The production, which began its run in November 2009 is directed by Jim Corti, with musical direction by Doug Peck. The production has been extended through April 18, 2010, at Writers' Theatre, 664 Vernon Avenue in Glencoe.
