The House Theatre of Chicago presents DORIAN, a modern adaptation of Oscar Wilde's novel 'The Picture of Dorian Gray.' This famous thriller of Dorian's ill-fated portrait is performed in promenade style. This original play is intended for mature audiences only, and is written by Company Members Ben Lobpries and Tommy Rapley. Company Member Kevin O'Donnell provides the score. Rapley directs and choreographs. The production previews today, April 4 - 13 and opens on Monday April 14 at 7pm at the Chopin Theatre (1543 W. Division St, Chicago). DORIAN will run through May 18, 2014.

The program's soloists will include soprano Miah Persson, mezzo- soprano Stephanie Blythe, tenor Frederic Antoun in his Philharmonic debut, bass Andrew Foster- Williams, Philharmonic Principal Trumpet Philip Smith, and the New York Choral Artists directed by Joseph Flummerfelt. Synetic Theater invites you to the annual Vampire's Ball on Friday, November 1. The Vampire's Ball has been a tradition at Synetic since 2007, when it was originally organized in conjunction with The Fall of the House of Usher. This year, The Vampire's Ball will follow another creepy and supernatural Synetic stand-out, The Picture of Dorian Gray. After being treated to a spectacular performance, guests will dance the night away in Synetic's new studio, courtesy of Resident Composer and Halloween DJ Konstantine Lortkipanidze. Composer Mohammed Fairouz's latest large-scale work, In The Shadow of No Towers (Symphony No. 4 for Wind Ensemble), will have its world premiere in the Isaac Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall tonight, March 26, with the University of Kansas Wind Ensemble conducted by the group's Artistic Director, Paul Popiel. The concert, which benefits the 9/11 Memorial, also features the New York premiere of the wind ensemble version of Philip Glass's Timpani Concerto, with soloists Gwendolyn Burgett and Ji Hye Jung.
