Waterwell announced today the revival of the Blueprint Specials, a series of lost WWII-era musicals composed principally by Broadway legend Frank Loesser to be presented in association with the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum and The Public Theater's Under the Radar Festival. The production will star Tony Award nominees Laura Osnes (Cinderella, Bonnie and Clyde) and Will Swenson (Hair) and be directed by Drama Desk nominee Tom Ridgely.

The Kitchen will present M. Lamar: The Demon Rising, on November 5. M. Lamar's new composition - for male soprano, piano, and projections - is in part inspired by the grand jury testimony of Darren Wilson (the white police officer who murdered unarmed black teenager Michael Brown and is quoted as saying "he looked up at me and had the most intense, aggressive face... it looks like a demon"). The Demon Rising embraces and incarnates white fantasies of blackness as oversized, superhuman, a supernatural menace.

The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) has announced the recipients and finalists of its Artists' Fellowship Program.

Writers Theatre, under the leadership of Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma, announces a one-week extension to Company, featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by George Furth. The production is directed by William Brown. Company features original orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick, Orchestral Reductions by Ian Weinberger, music direction by Tom Vendafreddo and choreography by Brock Clawson. The show, originally slated to run through July 31, 2016, will add an additional week, through August 7, in the Alexandra C. and John D. Nichols Theatre at 325 Tudor Court, Glencoe.

Theater for the New City's award-winning Street Theater Company will open its 40th annual tour August 6 with 'Election Selection, or You Bet!,' a rip-roaring musical in which three everyday New Yorkers are galvanized into community activists. Free performances will tour City streets, parks and playgrounds throughout the five boroughs through September 18. 1972: Dr. John Fryer dons an oversize tuxedo and rubber joke shop mask to become Dr. Henry Anonymous and confront the American Psychiatric Association with these words: 'I am a homosexual, I am a psychiatrist.' The latest work by renowned theatre artist Ain Gordon, 217 Boxes of Dr. Henry Anonymous, is a new play drawn from the 217 boxes of archive materials from national LGBT activist of Dr. John Fryer discovered by Ain Gordon during his two-year embedded artist status at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania (HSP). This new work is set to run, May 5-7, at the Painted Bride Arts Center, 230 Vine Street. All performances are at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $20. March 4, 2016 (BOSTON, MA)—Boston Ballet's 52nd season continues with Kaleidoscope, a vibrant fusion of works by the most influential choreographic voices of the 20th century. The first of four works presented in this dynamic program is George Balanchine's Kammermusik No. 2, a “fascinating” and “unremitting” ballet, followed by the dazzling and technically demanding The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude by William Forsythe that returns to Boston Ballet after a critically acclaimed Company premiere last season (Brian Seibert, The New York Times). Adding to the evening's exceptional program is the graceful Pas de Quatre by unsung choreographer Leonid Yakobson, a classically romantic work noted for its “distinctive movement sensibility” (Roslyn Sulcas,The New York Times). Concluding the program is Léonide Massine's colorful Gaîté Parisienne, an effervescent ballet that evokes Moulin Rouge and Paris in the early 1900s, and ends with an unforgettable can-can.  Kaleidoscope will run March 17–26, 2016 at the Boston Opera House.
