STAGES St. Louis has announced, due to exceptional sales, the theatre company's momentous production of Always... Patsy Cline will add an additional week of performances Wednesday, June 18 through Sunday, June 22, 2014, to its original production schedule. Always... Patsy Cline was originally produced by STAGES during its record-breaking 27th Season, which resulted in two added performances and historic attendance. Nightly, the audiences stopped the show with thunderous applause for numbers like 'Crazy,' 'Lovesick Blues,' and 'Your Cheating Heart.'

Word for Word presents "36 Stories by Sam Shepard" arranged for the stage and directed by Amy Kossow opening with a press night on Saturday May 24 8pm, running through June 22 (previews May 21-23) at Z Space's second venue, Z Below, at 470 Florida Street. Last year the Magic Theatre spearheaded a multi-theater celebration of Shepard's 70th birthday when they opened their season with Shepard's Pulitzer Prize-winning 'Buried Child.' Other companies participating in the celebration have been Crowded Fire, American Conservatory Theater in collaboration with Intersection for the Arts/Campo Santo and Word for Word.

It's hard to approach THE BIRDS without thinking of the the 1963 Hitchcock classic, filled with action and fear. Conner McPherson's play, however, is based on du Maurier's short story and takes on a different effect. As performed by Quotidian Theatre Company under the direction of Jack Sbarbori, THE BIRDS takes place in one room where three people have taken shelter from these violent feathered creatures. Rather than eliciting outright fear, the play carries a tension that develops between these last survivors of what is presumably an apocalypse.
