Folger Theatre launches its 2014/15 season in Rome with William Shakespeare's enduring political tragedy, Julius Caesar from October 28 - December 7, 2014. Robert Richmond (Richard III and Henry V at Folger) directs the epic portrait of the battle between ambition and honor, conspiracy and loyalty, leading an outstanding ensemble including Anthony Cochrane (Broadway's War Horse and Folger's Henry VIII) as the honorable Marcus Brutus, and Maurice Jones, making his Folger Theatre debut as Caesar's closest ally, Mark Antony.

Marina Carr's play Woman and Scarecrow is a perfect embodiment of the bittersweet humor and comical tragedy that pervades the plays of the Irish, much like PICT's production Waiting for Godot that closed June 21. Alan Stanford will direct this third play in PICT's season, which he selected "because of its delicate investigation of the one event in our lives that we all share. The leaving of it."

The Folger Shakespeare Library hosts a preview screening of the inspiring new documentary Still Dreaming from the filmmakers who brought us Shakespeare Behind Bars (Philomath Films) and featuring the co-directors of New York's highly-acclaimed Fiasco Theater (currently on stage at the Folger with The Two Gentlemen of Verona through May 25). Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts at Centenary College, Stephen Davis, has long been a teacher and advocate of the works of master playwright and poet William Shakespeare. For over five years, Davis has married his love of the bard and his love for education to help foster an appreciation for Shakespeare in the youth of New Jersey through a program sponsored by The Folger Shakespeare Library entitled Shakesperience, which will be hosted by Centenary Stage Company (CSC) for the first time on Tuesday, April 29th on the campus of Centenary College.

Gelsey Kirkland Ballet to Perform at Symphony Space, 3/7-8

Following their critically acclaimed world premiere in December the Gelsey Kirkland Ballet returns with an evening of dance at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre at Symphony Space (2537 Broadway on the southwest corner of 95th Street and Broadway) Friday, March 7 at 7:30PM and Saturday, March 8 at 7:30PM. This 20-member company, under the artistic direction of Gelsey Kirkland and Michael Chernov present their first mixed program including 'Raymonda Suite,' 'Leaves are Fading' Pas de Deux, 'Ballebille' from Napoli, 'Flames of Paris' Pas de Deux, 'Pas De Quatre' and 'Cavalry Halt.' As part of the shared vision that Ms. Kirkland and Mr. Chernov are attempting to fulfill with the creation of Gelsey Kirkland Ballet, Ms. Kirkland has provided her own personal touch to master works such as The Leaves are Fading, which was created on her at ABT by the renowned British choreographer Antony Tudor. The program also includes the New York premiere of Petipa's Cavalry Halt, a piece rarely viewed by US audiences.

RSC to Tour HENRY IV PART I and II this Autumn

The Royal Shakespeare Company will tour Henry IV Parts I and II, Shakespeare's celebrated history plays, to Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Norwich, Salford, Bradford, Bath and Canterbury between September - November 2014. The productions will take to the road after a season at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon between March - September 2014, and before playing at the Barbican in London between November 2014 - January 2015.

ALADDIN Enters Final Weekend of Performances at Little Firehouse Theatre

The Bergen County Players (BCP) of Oradell will ring out 2013 with the final five performances of the enchanting toe-tapping musical Aladdin, directed by Lynne Lupfer. The final five shows will take place at the Little Firehouse Theatre on Kinderkamack Road in Oradell on December 20 at 8:00 PM and December 21 and 22 at 1:00 PM and 3:30 PM each day. This will be the last chance for children of all ages to follow Aladdin's quest to capture the heart of the beautiful princess Mei-Ling, taking him on a magical journey from rags to riches and featuring not one, but two fantastical genies!
