Four-time Tony Award-winning playwright Terrence McNally ('Master Class', 'Kiss of the Spiderwoman') was formally introduced to revered Filipino film and television actress Cherie Gil at the writer's home in Brooklyn, New York. Ms. Gil recently received rave reviews from both media critics and theatre-goers when she essayed the larger-than-life role of 'La Divina' Maria Callas thrice (two seasons in Manila and a touring production in Dumaguete City, Southern Philippines) in Mr. McNally's 1996 Tony Award-winning play 'Master Class'.

First reported by BroadwayWorld back in June when Menier Chocolate Factory Theatre's David Babani told the U.K. Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye that plans are in progress to produce Stephen Sondheim & John Weidman's ROAD SHOW at the venue. He's now confirmed the news to Variety and included the news that it'll play the theatre next summer.

Tony-award winning star Donna McKechnie will join host Ken Kleiber for his 'Kentertainment Report', today, Wednesday October 13 at 12:15pm on Sirius 109/ XM 98. Ms. McKechnie will be speaking about her career and upcoming events, including 'Sondheim Unplugged' and 'My Musical Comedy Life', (both at the Laurie Beecham Theatre with the latter also at the Palais Royale in Indiana), and 'From Broadway With Love', a evening benefitting 'Animal Protection of New Mexico' which also features Kaye Ballard and Liliane Montevecchi.

The Laurie Beechman Theatre announced that Tony Award-winner DONNA McKECHNIE will return to The Laurie Beechman Theatre with her critically-acclaimed solo show, My Musical Comedy Life, which will play the midtown venue on Wednesday, November 3rd at 8pm. It's Manila's turn to greet musical theatre legend Stephen Sondheim a happy 80th birthday. Hamingson, Executive Director) will launch The Public Forum, an exciting new series of lectures, debates and conversations that showcase leading voices in the arts, politics and the media. Former JERSEY BOYS star Erich Bergen is certainly one busy guy. In support of his first soon-to-be released solo CD The Vegas Sessions, Bergen will be debuting his new club act at The Magic Castle in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, September 15. On top of that, he is currently in rehearsals for the new musical VENICE, which is set to open October 7 at Center Theatre Group's Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City. Recently, Bergen chatted with BroadwayWorld's Michael Lawrence Quintos about the new album, his days on JERSEY BOYS, New York vs. L.A. theater, and the whereabouts of his Gossip Girl ascot.

As BroadwayWorld has reported, The New York Philharmonic's SONDHEIM: The Birthday Concert, which took place on March 15-16, 2010 at Avery Fisher Hall, will be broadcast on THIRTEEN'S Great Performances on PBS on Wednesday, November 24 (check local listings). WNET, Channel 13 in New York City, will air the concert at 9:30 p.m. that evening. Today, it has been revealed that the Image Entertainment will release the program DVD and Blu-Ray on November 16, 2010. The concert includes songs and orchestral pieces from Sondheim musical theater favorites such as Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, Merrily We Roll Along, Into the Woods, and Sunday in the Park with George. Today, it has been announced that in addition to the PBS telecast, the concert will be released on DVD in November by Image Entertainment.

The American Theatre Network is proud to announce the launch of Great Entertainers on Broadway, a new summer series of live performances by some of today's most talented and well known stage, television and cabaret entertainers.
