Howard Hawks, the quintessential Hollywood director known for his mastery of many genres, will be the subject of a complete retrospective at Museum of the Moving Image from today, September 7 through November 10, 2013. The Museum will present 39 features. All of the films will be shown in 35mm-many in stunning restorations-except for Red Line 7000, which will be shown in 16mm.

The Playwrights' Foundation announces the 2012 Fall Rough Readings Series October 1- November 13, 2012 at Stanford University and in San Francisco. The fall readings series features: Mike Lew's Bike America October 1 & 2; Dominic Orlando's Reparations October 22 & 23; and Dominique Morisseau Sunset Baby November 12 & 13. The 2012 Rough Readings Series (10/1-12/13, 2012) are presented on Mondays in CERAS Hall and Roble Hall at Stanford University and Tuesdays at The Thick House and A.C.T.'s Costume Shop in San Francisco.

The Chicago premiere of In Darfur by Winter Miller, directed by Nick Bowling, joins three previously released titles: The Chicago premiere of Frost/Nixon by Peter Morgan, the world premiere of Mastering the Art by William Brown and Doug Frew, and The Front Page by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco, a AAA Five Diamond hotel in the heart of downtown, has partnered with Bay Area broadcast veteran Liam Mayclem in launching the Inside the Kitchen culinary tours, a series of exclusive, behind-the-scenes excursions that showcase the craft, talent and history of San Francisco's remarkable food and beverage community. Offered to hotel guests and members of the community, the first four Inside the Kitchen tours will take place on August 10, 17, 24 and 31. Today, the renowned nonprofit announced 13 selections for the inaugural summer lab at The Ground Floor, Berkeley Rep's Center for the Creation and Development of New Work. During an intense four-week period, dozens of artists will live, dine, create, and collaborate at the Theatre's new campus in West Berkeley.

The international clown, circus and theatre communities will come together 7pm, Tuesday, March 13 at the Z Space (formerly Theatre Artaud), 450 Florida St., San Francisco, for an evening of laughter, gags, graceful acrobatics, and uproarious pratfalls, to pay a joyful, loving tribute to one of its own, Peggy Ford, a major figure in the Bay Area and national circus communities, who died in January after several years of illness.

Cast members of Eccentrics of San Francisco's Barbary Coast...a magical escapade, in period costume will be present at Lotta?s Fountain to commemorate the 1906 Quake in the early morning of April 18th. They?ll pass out souvenir wooden-nickels and invite the crowd to visit the San Francisco Magic Parlor in the Chancellor Hotel that evening. This event takes place every Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm. Tickets cost $30 (entertainment charge; refreshments available before show).
