Featuring legendary stage actress Mary Martin as Maria von Trapp opposite renowned actor Theodore Bikel, the album includes such unforgettable classics as a?oeMy Favorite Things,a?? a?oeEdelweiss,a?? a?oeDo-Re-Mi,a?? a?oeClimb Ev'ry Mountaina?? and, of course, a?oeThe Sound of Music.a?? Set for a December 6th release date, the soundtrack has been deftly remastered from the original three-track tape by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound and will be available on CD or 180-gram vinyl. The CD edition features new liner notes by The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization's Ted Chapin, while the two-LP vinyl seta?'pressed at RTIa?'comes housed in a replica of the original album's gatefold jacket. WEST SIDE STORY will open the season, runningAugust 30 - September 16, 2018, and MAMMA MIA! will replace the previously announced closing show, THE WEDDING SINGER, running May 9 - 26, 2019.
The Juilliard School today announced that alumnus Wynton Marsalis, trumpeter, director of Juilliard Jazz Studies, and artistic director of Jazz at Lincoln Center, will address the graduates at the school's 113th commencement ceremony, which takes place Friday, May 18, 2018, at 11am in Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center. Mr. Marsalis received an honorary doctor of music degree from Juilliard in 2006. This will be the final commencement for Juilliard President Joseph W. Polisi, who has had a long association with Mr. Marsalis and asked that he be the commencement speaker. In July, Damian Woetzel will begin as the school's seventh president.
