The 92nd Street Y announces casting for the 2009 season of Lyrics & Lyricists, the Y's legendary American Songbook series. Polly Bergen, Lucie Arnaz, Tom Wopat and Marilyn Maye are among the storied cast members who will sing the songs of Richard Rodgers, Ira Gershwin, Mel Torm?, DeSylva, Brown & Henderson, David Zippel and others. This is the first season curated by new series artistic director DEBORAH GRACE WINER, and her inaugural line-up of guest artistic directors - MARTIN CHARNIN, DAVID ZIPPEL, ROBERT KIMBALL, REX REED, and BILLY STRITCH.

Barbra Streisand's Yentl, is finally being released on DVD, the film has been a much requested title for DVD release for many years, and the movie's fans are rejoicing that it will soon be available for sale from MGM Home Video. The upcoming Broadway revival of Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit will go on general sale on Saturday, December 20, 2008. Tickets can be purchased by visiting telecharge.com or calling 212-239-6200 in the New York area, and 800-432-7250 outside the New York metro area.
Rehearsals are scheduled to begin Monday, January 26, 2009 with the first performance on Thursday, February 26, 2009 and the official opening on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at The Shubert Theatre (225 West 44th Street).

The Friend Center at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco (JCCSF) continues the 2008-09 season in the New Year with an expansive array of performing arts events, including participation in Evolve, the citywide celebration of Charles Darwin's The Origin of Species publication. Variety reports that Jayne Atkinson has joined the cast of the upcoming Broadway revival of 'Blithe Spirit,' Atkinson will play the bride of Everett's character, who is plagued by the ghost of his deceased first wife (Ebersole). Atkinson was last on Broadway in 'Enchanted April' in 2003.

'Maudie & Jane' by Nattino Begins at Living Theatre Nov.30

The Living Theatre (19 Clinton St.) will present Maudie & Jane, written by Luciano Nattino, an adaptation of the Diary of Jane Summers, starring Judith Malina and Pat Russell, in which an old bag lady seduces a high-profile fashion editor into taking care of her. The production begins previews on November 30. Official Opening is on December 7. Hanon Reznikov directs.
