Dundalk Community Theatre is set to host auditions for Go Back For Murder by Agatha Christie.
All the way from across the pond, from Cornwall's Kneehigh Theatre to be exact, comes a dark fairy tale brilliantly told, stunningly performed and miraculously conjured up here on the stage of Berkeley Repertory's Roda Theatre. The US premiere of The Wild Bride, playing now through January 1st, is tragically, magically hellish and heavenly all at the same time… and it will disarm you.
This is it - The clash of the musical titans we've all been waiting for. No, not Gaga vs Katy Perry - the other clash of the musical titans - New Directions vs The Troubletones for the Sectionals glory. Who will rise and who will fall? Without a Berry to their name, New Directions goes into the battle without their lead diva. Sit back and prepare for a musical battle to end all musical battles!
Quinn informs Rachel that Puck and Shelby are having sex, and how she plans to tell Principal Figgins and get Shelby fired, which would eliminate The Troubletones from Sectionals. Rachel attempts to rationalize things for Quinn, but Quinn seems far too content with her plans - until Rachel brings Beth into it, leaving Quinn slightly deterred, but not for long. Finn and Mr. Schuester discuss Sectionals, which will be held at McKinley for the first time in years, but Finn fears they lack star power - thus bringing up the idea of tracking Sam down, who is currently living in Kentucky. At the Lima Bean, Kurt continues to lament his and Rachel's bleak future, while Blaine laments over how Finn continues to put him down - only to be interrupted by Sebastian. The claws come out when Blaine leaves, Kurt and Sebastian reveal their dislike for each other - Kurt not backing down as Sebastian attempts to do what Sebastian does best. Rachel and Finn track down Sam - secretly working at a strip club - under the name - White Chocolate to provide for his family.
Broadway legend Patti LuPone visited Pittsburgh this week, performing her one-woman show 'COULDA, WOULDA, SHOULDA', accompanied by the Pittsburgh Symphony. Fans of LuPone were treated to a biographical exploration of music - both LuPone classics and things LuPone wished she had performed - as LuPone explained, 'the songs that I coulda sung, I woulda sung if someone had cast me, I shoulda sung because I would have been better in the part.'
Three years ago I posted a review emphatically praising the Prospect Theatre Company's developmental production of Jim and Ruth Bauer's The Blue Flower, calling it, 'a unique, intelligent and wondrously creative evening of musical theatre' that 'skillfully tackles the tricky business of mixing the art of musical theatre with the anti-art movement of Dada.' A German creation born amidst the rubble of the First World War, Dada was an artistic, literary and theatrical movement that attacked the sensibilities of a culture that could send millions of young men to slaughter by celebrating anarchy and irrationality.
