Victoria Nolan To Conclude Unprecedented Run At Yale

Victoria Nolan, Deputy Dean of Yale School of Drama, Managing Director of Yale Repertory Theatre, and Professor in the Practice of Theater Management, will step down from those duties on June 30, 2020, in order to work on other projects and spend more time with her family.

Members of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay faculty will step out of their classroom and directorial roles and onto the stage for the seventh annual Concert Hour Involving Music Educators (C.H.I.M.E.) Concert in UW-Green Bay, Sheboygan's Fine Arts Theatre on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019 at 7 p.m. Anticipated performances will come from music faculty, Assistant Prof. Luis Fernandez, Assistant Prof. Michael Rector, Associate Prof. Adam Gaines, Assistant Prof. Bill Salak and Sheboygan Campus Associate Lecturer Paul Sucherman. The concert is coordinated by Sheboygan Campus Associate Prof. Christy Talbott.

You can expect that same quality in Broadway at Music Circus' third production of the summer, with Lynne Wintersteller returning to Sacramento in the title role. Lynne was last seen here in 2017 as Dolly Levi in Hello, Dolly! and as Mother Superior in Sister Act, where she solidified her place as Music Circus royalty and left audiences anticipating her return. Nickelodeon today announced it has greenlit Kamp Koral (working title), an original spinoff series of its iconic hit, SpongeBob SquarePants. The CG-animated series (13 episodes) introduces 10-year-old SpongeBob SquarePants during his summer at sleepaway camp. The series is slated to begin production in June at Nickelodeon in Burbank.

Rom Com Fest, a new Los Angeles based film festival which celebrates love through film and experiences, announced the lineup for its inaugural festival which will take place June 20-23, 2019. The lineup includes special themed screenings of iconic romantic comedies, as well as a competition lineup of new romantic comedies, and a number of unique themed events and activities. The program was announced today by the festival's Founder and Executive Director Miraya Berke.

In the days since seeing playwright Martin Zimmerman's On the Exhale, which is running at Slipstream Theatre Initiative in Ferndale through May 19th, I have been thinking a lot about the 1999 Columbine shooting, the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting, and the 2018 Parkland shooting. Slipstream's one-woman show, On the Exhale, centers on an unnamed single mother whose only child was killed in a shooting at his elementary school. This mother goes on a desperate journey to uncover what exactly happened in that school on that fateful September morning.

1999 marked a momentous year for Scottish rock band Travis. Singer/songwriter Fran Healy, guitarist Andy Dunlop, drummer Neil Primrose, and bassist Dougie Payne had been together since the beginning of the decade, and were gearing up for the release of their sophomore album, The Man Who, following the release of their 1997 debut, Good Feeling. Though the album found moderate success in the UK and set the band up for extensive touring—opening for the likes of Oasis—Travis were still reasonably unknown internationally. All of that was about to change.
