Dead Writers Theatre Collective who began the 2016 season with a highly praised production of The Importance of Being Earnest, opens the second offering of the musical revue, Oh, Coward!, on August 26 at The Athenaeum Theatre. "Our 'Mad about the Boy' theme actually comes from one of the songs in this revue," states Collective Artistic Director Jim Schneider. "We're celebrating love, all kinds of love, and this cabaret style production of Noel Coward's sophisticated work is the perfect second course. We will close our season this fall taking dramatic look at tragic love with The Heiress."
For a director known as opera's bad boy, Calixto Bieito turned to something awfully familiar in CARMEN for his US debut. Then again, he didn't actually show up for it, tied up with a new production of Aribert Reimann's LEAR in Paris and dispatching one of his top collabortors, Joan Anton Rechi, to pull it together.

Dead Writers Theatre Collective opens its 2016 season with a clear look back at the Oscar Wilde classic, The Importance of Being Earnest. It opens July 1 at The Athenaeum Theatre. "It's the perfect choice to launch our 'Mad About The Boy' theme," states Collective Artistic Director Jim Schneider. "We're celebrating the good and bad side of love - all kinds of love. Our other two shows include a cabaret style production of Noel Coward's sophisticated work in Oh, Coward! and a dramatic look at tragic love with The Heiress. All three shows will be considered for a Jeff Award Recommendation."

He is everyone's favorite funny uncle. Dave Coulier has an exciting year ahead of him. The Netflix series of 'Fuller House' will be premiere on February 26th. In April, the stand-up comedian is releasing an electronic kid's book full of familiar voices. In the meantime, Coulier's spending time making people laugh and is set to appear at The Stress Factory in New Brunswick for a 3-night show. When I spoke to him, he dished about it all: from what happened to Mr. Woodchuck, being back on that famous 'San Francisco set,' to his brotherly bond with John Stamos and Bob Saget.
Episode 2 — the second of the season premiere double header — wastes no time in getting straight to the point, as we open, just like we did last episode, where the previous half-hour left off.
Caitlin confronts her mother about what she saw in the window of the tattoo studio, and Liza then decides it's time to come clean — that she's dating Josh; she decides to hold back on telling her daughter she's posing as 26 (which, for the record, Maggie agrees is also, at this time, for the better).

Welp. Jessamy's acting weird. Must be a Tuesday. Last week's episode ended, you may recall, with Ventrishire's resident besotted kook walking in on her paramour getting all snuggly with Lady Love in the chapel. Tonight it becomes very clear that Jessamy is jealous, as well as delusional. When Wilk, Maddy, whatever she wants to call him, tells her that he and Toran are off on a boys' trip to trade some grain, Jessamy totally gives him the side-eye. 'Oh, yeahhhh? Any pretty girls gonna be there? Hmmmm?' You can practically see the 'What are you wearing, 'Jake from State Farm'?' in her face, it's actually a bit fantastic. And when Father Ruskin announces to the village that Lady Love's pregnant, man oh man, daggers just about shoot out of her eyes. It's wonderful. She's so wacky.

Bat Boy: The Musical is an American musical with a book by Keythe Farley and Brian Flemming and music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe, based on a June 23, 1992 Weekly World News story about a half-boy, half-bat, dubbed 'Bat Boy', who grew up living in a cave.
On Sunday June 28, actress/singer Candi Milo brought her one.of.a.kind comedic cabaret to Sterling's Upstairs at the Federal and boy, oh boy, is she funny. 'How funny?' you may query. This little lady grew up in a mental institution - well, her father ran one in their home, so she was exposed to craziness at a tender age...and on top of that, she's Italian...and a voice-over artist who does many, many cartoon voices to amazing perfection, starting with Sweetie Pie. She was also a member of 'The Mighty Carson Art Players' on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. What fabulous improvisational training! So it's no surprise that the lady knows how to get a laugh. Humor comes gushing out of her the minute she opens her mouth, and it's never forced. It's all natural and with a multitude of sarcastic asides, it works deliciously on a cabaret stage.
