Schonberg and Boublil will be artists-in-residence at the University of Virginia from Feb. 22 to 24, sharing their experience and creative insights with students, faculty, staff and the Charlottesville, Virginia community.

On March 20, 2017, Virginia's Tony Award-winning Signature Theatre will honor legendary Broadway producer Sir Cameron Mackintosh (The Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Les Misérables) with the company's eighth Stephen Sondheim Award.

Rehearsals begin Thursday, January 12 for Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed new production of Boublil and Schonberg's legendary musical MISS SAIGON, which will return to its original home, The Broadway Theater (1681 Broadway) beginning performancesWednesday, March 1. The original production of MISS SAIGON opened at the same theater on April 11, 1991 and played there through January 28, 2001. Directed by Laurence Connor (the recent hit revival of LES MISERABLES, School of Rock), the Broadway return of MISS SAIGON will feature four of its London stars, Jon Jon Briones as The Engineer, Eva Noblezada as Kim, Alistair Brammer as Chris and Rachelle Ann Go as Gigi. The cast also includes Katie Rose Clarke as Ellen, Nicholas Christopher as John, Devin Ilaw as Thuy. Lianah Sta. Ana will play the role of Kim at certain performances. MISS SAIGON has its official opening Thursday, March 23. MISS SAIGON will play a limited engagement through January 13, 2018 before launching a North American tour later in the year.

Cameron Mackintosh announced today that his acclaimed new production of Boublil and Schonberg's legendary musical MISS SAIGON - a recent smash hit in the West End - will embark on a major UK tour opening at Curve Leicester from Monday 3 July - Saturday 22 July 2017 (press night Wednesday 12 July 2017) before playing Birmingham Hippodrome (26 July - 23 September 2017), Bord Gais Energy Theatre, Dublin (Wednesday 4 October to Saturday 18 November), Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff (29 November 2017 - 6 January 2018), Festival Theatre Edinburgh (17 January - 17 February 2018) and Mayflower Southampton (21 February - 17 March 2018). Tony® and Olivier Award winning star Lea Salonga will return to Australia next February marking her Sydney Opera House debut with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. She will also perform concerts at Arts Centre Melbourne with Orchestra Victoria.

Happy Birthday Claude-Michel Schonberg! Schonberg is best known for his collaborations with the lyricist Alain Boublil. Thier stage musical version of Victor Hugo's Les Miserables, which opened at the Palais de Sports in Paris in 1980, opened to acclaim in London in 1985 and on Broadway in 1987. In 1989, their success continued with the musical Miss Saigon, which starred Lea Salonga and Jonathan Pryce. Schonberg's next project with Boublil was The Pirate Queen, a musical about the 16th century Irish pirate, chieftain and adventuress Grace O'Malley, which opened on Broadway on April 5 2007.
