Patrick Kramer's commanding performance as Frederick Frankenstein (that's 'FRONKENsteen' for the uninitiated) in the Center for the Arts' production of Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein is reason enough to buy a ticket (if you're lucky enough to score one - shows are playing to capacity crowds in Murfreesboro, so make your reservations yesterday), but director Renee Robinson and musical director Stephen Burnette very adroitly surround him with such strong support that the entire ensemble of Transylvanian thespians is worth the price of admission.
An eight-part series penned by Max Landis (American Ultra, Chronicle), DIRK GENTLY'S HOLISTIC DETECTIVE AGENCY, adapted from the wildly popular novels by Douglas Adams ('The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'), premieres Today, October 22 at 9/8c on BBC AMERICA.
Amidst months of controversy and questioning, Des Moines Playhouse's West Side Story succeeds to be one of the best and emotionally charged shows Des Moines has seen in a while. That is, if one can get past the apparent lack of Latinx actors in the show.
This week, Broadwaysted is diving face-first into Broadway Orchestra Pits with our guests Nate Patten and Cam Collins from 'Booked It: A Broadway Musician's Guide to Theatre, Facebook, and being #Grateful!'
'EaDo Playhouse?! We know what you're thinking… Okay, we assume to know what you're thinking… 'A) Do we really need another theater in Houston? B) Are they going to change their name next year? 3) Did I turn the stove off?' Honestly, we're thinking the same thing... But, hey, we're just trying to level out the arts-venue to Chipotle ratio in Houston. No, but seriously… In a world where a tiny-handed talking Cheeto in a toupee could be the next President of the United States, we feel that it's important for our community to bond together.

“Catastrophe And The Cure”—The second episode of season 13 of GREY'S ANATOMY aired last night, and the show continues to move each plot forward in interesting ways—Alex continues to face the repercussions of his assault on Deluca—personally, professionally, and legally; Both Jo and Deluca also have to face the emotional and professional fallout of Alex's actions; the Meredith/Maggie/Riggs love triangle continues its slow and awkward burn toward inevitable hurt feelings—even though Meredith somehow seems to think that this is avoidable; Jackson and April work to figure out the whole parenting-while-divorced-and-while-mom-is-recovering-from-surgery thing; and Owen and Amelia adapt to being married and therefore kind of needing to communicate with each other—a skill at which this couple has always fluctuated from being awful to amazing. Those fluctuations continued last night.

As assured and confident as any long-running musical now - or ever, for that matter - on Broadway, the altogether worldly and completely engaging production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita, playing at Andrew Jackson Hall through September 18, gives Nashville audiences the kind of exceptional theater experience they've come to expect from Studio Tenn.

Monumental Theatre Company's new production of URINETOWN proves a very timely look into politics, corporate control and crowd dynamics; however, some central problems cause the show and its company to struggle in their space.
Since you're on Broadway World, chances are you're the type of person who is familiar with the concept of artist merit. By that, I mean you're the person who appreciates the lengthy productions of Sunday in the Park with George just as much if not more (let's face it, way more) than you do a spunky production of familiar shows like Footloose or Grease (god bless those good old high school staples). You're also probably the person who, although you secretly live every time you hear 'Defying Gravity', is so over those mainstream shows. Many college students would much rather revive Applause than they would something like Beauty and the Beast, but when you're breaking into the business or just starting out in production, finding the original artistic value in those 'over-exposed' shows might be just what you need to build a reputation.

Click below to watch Carrie St. Louis, Kara Lindsay, Jenni Barber, Tiffany Haas, Kate Fahrner and Katie Rose Clarke trade off the melody and strut all over the Bryant Park stage!
At the beginning of the summer, I thought that moving from Atlanta to New Hampshire was a huge feat, but my 'journey' is chump change compared to the distance Giulia Dunes has traveled in order to be at Interlakes this summer. Giulia Dunes is a native of Holland, who is quickly learning how to become a native New Yorker. This summer she is taking on the huge task of Assistant Directing a show that she is performing in, while simultaneously rehearsing for her lead role in the next show of the season. Did you follow that? Me neither. Let me break it down. Giulia is performing as 'Missy' in 9 to 5 while rehearsing for her role as 'Ulla' in The Producers. The constant character switch is enough to give anyone an identity crisis, and on top of that, English is not Giulia's first language. I had to sit down and talk to her to find out how she handles all of this insanity and chaos with such grace.
'Songs of a Girl's Heart' is a new book written by Christine Spalding. This book takes a look at some issues girls face and includes the author's personal account of dealing with these issues. Parents and girls will find that 'Songs of a Girl's Heart' brings attention to important subjects that may not otherwise be addressed. Spalding uses her a writing style that draws in the reader without passing judgment.
'I know how hard it was for me growing up, and I wanted to put something out there to let girls know it's okay,' said Christine Spalding, author and founder of Walk In Greatness. 'My hope is this book will be the start of a conversation; a way to get parents, girls, and those who love girls talking about ways to help our young girls thrive.'
'Songs of a Girl's Heart' is Spalding's first book. Along with being an author she founded Walk In Greatness in 2015, an empowerment company for girls and women. Walk In Greatness offers mentoring, coaching and public speaking services. In a time where women and girls are undervalued, as evidenced by the current pay disparity, Walk In Greatness's goal is to inspire others to achieve things beyond their own imagination.
