Previews will begin today at Virginia's Signature Theatre for the world premiere musical Sycamore Trees written by Ricky Ian Gordon, the award-winning composer of the opera The Grapes of Wrath and the musicals Dream True and My Life with Albertine. A starry Broadway cast portrays Gordon's own family story - complete with a tough Bronx-born father and former 'Borscht Belt' singer/comedian mother - in a tale of two generations' struggles and triumphs in the decades from World War II through the 1990s.

Bill Frisell, Ron Carter, and Paul Motian - three of the top players on their respective instruments - will take the Blue Note stage in early December for a special series of trio concerts. The three legends recorded an album in 2006 for Nonesuch records under their own name, but rarely play together live. Brought back by popular demand, the group will reunite at the Blue Note from February 23 - 28.

Florence Henderson and Shirley Jones are featured on a newly released DVD, Florence Henderson & Shirley Jones: First Ladies of Broadway, which includes the ladies' early television performances on The Bell Telephone Hour. Yvonne King Burch, lead singer of the groundbreaking Grammy®-nominated swing era vocal group, The King Sisters, and pioneering creator and producer, of The King Family Show television series starring the successful multi-generational singing group, The King Family, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2009 in Santa Barbara, surrounded by her family, just one month shy of her 90th birthday.
