NATALIE DOUGLAS - the acclaimed vocalist hailed as "sensational" by Time Out New York and "stirring" by The New York Daily News - will debut the new concert "HELLO DOLLY…THE MUSIC OF DOLLY PARTON" on Monday, September 15 at 9:30 PM. Douglas honors another notably-buxom performer: the beloved singer, actor, songwriter and Broadway composer Dolly Parton. Selections including songs that Dolly wrote such as "Jolene," "Coat of Many Colors" and "I Just Might" from the Broadway musical 9 to 5, in addition to numbers that Dolly creatively covered like Neil Young's "After The Gold Rush" and Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven." Natalie will be joined by her longtime Musical Director Mark Hartman (Broadway's Avenue Q, Sondheim on Sondheim) on piano, accordion and mandolin; Michael Blanco on bass; Scott Kuney on guitar and banjo; Joe Choroszewski on drums and Shanna Sharp on acoustic guitar.

Children's Playhouse of Maryland, in residence at CCBC Essex, hosts its 8TH ANNUAL FUNDRAISING GALA from 6:30 p.m. until 11 p.m., today, Sept. 6 in the College Community Center Theatre at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Boulevard. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. a silent auction and raffles. At 7:30 p.m., the CPM cast presents a special preview performance of HELLO, DOLLY! - CPM's first musical production for its fall 2014 season. A buffet reception will follow the performance. Tickets are $25 and available through the CCBC Box Office at 443-840-ARTS (2787).

Sally Struthers portrays Dolly Levi in this production. In the age of YouTube there are many versions of Dolly out there to find by famous divas of the stage and each has made Dolly their own part. Sally Struthers can now be added to that list of 'Dolly divas'. Her little quirks and joyful sounds throughout the production has created a Dolly Levi that those of us in Boise who were lucky enough to see, will not forget.
