Novato Theater Company continues its successful 2016- 2017 season with the musical comedy, Company, with book by George Furth and music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The show was originally directed on Broadway by Harold Prince. The NTC production is directed by Patrick Nims, with musical direction by Andrew Klein and choreography by Kate Kenyon. It is produced by Vicki Martinez. Company runs March 24-April 16at the NTC Playhouse, 5420 Nave Drive in Novato.

Dundalk Community Theatre kicks off its 2016/2017 season with a musical tribute Always….Patsy Cline from October 28th - November 6th. The season is then followed by "I Hate Hamlet" and "Shrek: The Musical". DCT has something for everyone this year and the festivities are just around the corner. She had previously received a Golden Globe Award nomination for the film version of My Favorite Year (1982). Her other film appearances include The Delta Force (1986), Harry and the Hendersons (1987), Beaches (1988), My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002) and My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 (2016). Kazan made her Broadway debut in The Happiest Girl in the World in 1961 followed by Bravo Giovanni (1962).

Happy Birthday Arthur Laurents! Laurents' first play, Home of the Brave, opened on Broadway in 1945, followed by many others. He wrote his first musical, West Side Story, in 1957, followed by Gypsy and others. His first screenplay was The Snake Pit in 1948, followed by others including Rope, Anastasia, The Way We Were and The Turning Point. His own play, Invitation to a March in 1960, was the first of several he directed. I Can Get It for You Wholesale in 1961 was the first musical he directed, followed by others including La Cage aux Folles and Gypsy with Angela Lansbury, then Tyne Daly and most recently, Patti LuPone. He pased away in May 2011.

Sometimes it seems there is so much theater happening that it's difficult to keep track of it all. From personal experience, despite all the datebooks, smart phones, tablets, desktop computers and laptops...it's hard to keep everything straight in this wacky business of the show.
