Tonight and Saturday, May 24 and 25, The Kitchen will present the world premiere of artist and playwright William Leavitt's one-act play Habitat, which takes place among neighbors whose adjoining backyards are located in a small American town. Registering the psychological impact of everyday things beyond one's power to control, the play continues themes of subtly estranged domesticity seen in Leavitt's earlier plays, such as The Radio (2002) and Pyramid Lens Delta (2003/2011). This marks the first time the artist's theatrical work has been presented in New York. Performances start at 8:00 P.M. Tickets are $15.

K Michelle Releases First Single From Upcoming Album REBELLIOUS SOUL
by Tyler Peterson - May 20, 2013

After countless sold out shows in major cities, a mixtape and singles with lyrics that throngs of fans know by heart, everyone's favorite R&B bad girl K Michelle, is set to release 'Very Special' (VSOP), the first single from her fan demanded debut album, 'Rebellious Soul', scheduled to hit the streets on July 30th, which is currently available on iTunes (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/v.s.o.p.-single/id647540351). With a sample of Debra Laws beloved 1981 hit record with the same title, and sung in the key of heavenly, K Michelle tells the sultry tale of a night of romance over a remixed beat of live strings and instruments. Having began her career as a classically trained pianist and completing college on a yodeling scholarship, there is no surprise K Michelle, who has been singing since a child, would painstakingly incorporate an orchestra into her freshman debut. Just another unexpected nuance about the reality television star that keeps fans intrigued.
