When one heads toward the two cabaret rooms at the venerable New York club Don't Tell Mama, they pass a wall of show posters highlighting cabaret stars, past and present. One of those posters is from the early 1980s and features Rosemary Loar, who at that time was in the early stages of a cabaret and musical theater career that is now into its fourth decade. Loar is celebrating her success in both genres during the run of her latest cabaret show, EVERYTHING'S COMING UP ROSIE, where she delivers iconic songs from classic Broadway Musicals in which Loar herself starred, whether on Broadway, Off-Broadway, or in regional theater.

From one of Ireland's leading theatre directors Annabelle Comyn, this new play depicts one of the pivotal moments of the Cold War era, and one of the greatest sporting matches in history on stage for the first time a?' the 1972 'Match of the Century' between the two towering chess grandmasters from the USSR and USA, Boris Spassky and Bobby Fischer.

The newly formed Navigation Theatre Company is kicking off the 2019-20 season dedicated to producing local playwrights with a presentation of Buffalo-based writer Mark Humphrey's 'The Kindness of Strangers'. In association with the Compass Performing Arts Center, this world debut opens on October 24th and runs to November 16th. Showtimes are 8 pm Thursdays and Fridays, 5 pm on Saturdays. Actor Burt Grinstead gained recognition in Los Angeles for his terrific performance in Deathtrap at LGBTQ and later in The Rope at Actors Co-op. He formed his own production company and produced and co-starred in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, which he also adapted with his partner Anna Stromberg. They won top prize at the Hollywood Fringe Festival in 2018. Grinstead is currently preparing to open as Richard the Lionheart in The Lion in Winter at Laguna Playhouse this Sunday November 10. In our conversation he talks about the play in depth and lays bare his passion for the acting profession.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival, which is entering its 85th year, today announced the casts for the 2020 season, featuring some of the most beloved performers from OSF's history alongside newcomers from around the country. OSF is one of the most prominent theatre companies across the nation that have joined the Jubilee, a yearlong nationwide commitment by theatres to feature work generated by those who have traditionally been excluded from or marginalized by the theatre industry. Five Shakespeare plays staged as four productions, alongside two new plays inspired by him, take the Festival's stages in 2020. Two more commissions from OSF's multi-decade commissioning program American Revolutions: the United States History Cycle will also premiere.
